Hit piece on Dr. Dre (please comment)
« on: May 23, 2014, 11:52:05 AM »
I haven't posted here in a long time, but I'm hoping you guys can reply to this fucked up hit peice on Dr. Dre:
http://pando.com/2014/05/23/beaten-by-dre-apple-plans-to-acquihire-a-man-who-violently-assaulted-a-woman-and-the-tech-industry-doesnt-care/

This is a fairly influential tech blog that wants to try to block the sale of Beats by Dr. Dre by saying Dr. Dre beats women. I posted a comment here:

I thought it'd be good for them to know that more people think they are writing racist garbage on their blog.

If you have some time post a comment and let them know what you think about the article.

P.S. Hope everyone is doing well in the dubcc community :-)

Nice thread anyway.  Fuck the haters, Dre is the legend and they can't fucc with that.  He's put out nothing but quality material his whole life and now he's getting what he deserves

Such an ass-backwards way to try and damage something. The company is paying for the brand name and what its perceived value has become. While I don't support a lot of that domestic dispute nonsense that Dre was tied up in, they are way late on the whole boycott. Mainstream America has already spent millions of dollars on this guy's music in the 20+ years since the incidents occurred so digging it up now isn't likely to put too much of a stranglehold on the man's business.

I didn't know Dre had that deep a criminal record.  No wonder his output was so scarce in 1995 - he spent half the year in jail.
