I, in my younger days used to be intrigued to see the homes of the 'rich' with impartiality and interest, but now look at it with great disgust. Trust me, this isn't jealousy like some may justifiably have but it is based rather on more humane factors. Having my own family (wife, 3 children), profitable career and a wealth of 'life experience', I take great guilt when buying material items. As previous members have stated in the past, me spending 5 figures on a replica DR pendant was ridiculous, and back then I didn't think it was, but now being older, maturer, it is something I just wouldn't do now. I have had bonuses, which have went straight into the purchasing of clothing, and food boxes, I try to reuse and salvage when I don't need to, simply because in the back of my mind I know I am fortunate, and there are those out there struggling. Little kids malnourished and starving to death. Then there's people like this, who despite only having 1-2 additional family members, feel the need to have all that space. I respect his talents, but as a human being, he is a parasitical sell out
When Dr. Dre moves, he makes big moves.Lauren Beale of the Los Angeles Times reports the rap mogul and Beats Electronics founder has officially purchased Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen’s $40 million mansion estate in Brentwood, Los Angeles. According to Beale, the four-acre property features a French chateau surrounded by gardens, a cobblestone motor court and a moat teeming with koi fish.Designed by architect Richard Landry, the home is an 18,298-square-foot mansion with five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a library/study, a gym, a sauna, covered terraces and seven fireplaces—because no chateau worth its mortar has fewer fireplaces than bedrooms. While a $40 million home is the height of extravagance, the price Dre paid for the property is substantially less than the original listing. Brady and his wife placed their mansion on the market with the asking price of $50 million, which Dre was presumably able to haggle down by a tidy $10 million.Dre’s purchase comes fast on the heels of the decision to sell his thriving music streaming and headphone company he co-founded in 2008 to Apple.According to Elizabeth Lazarowitz and Cory Siemaszko of the New York Daily News, the producer and his business partner Jimmy lovine sold Beats Music and Beats Electronics to the multinational corporation in May for $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock options. Dre and lovine also accepted positions as Apple executives working under CEO Tim Cooke as part of the deal. Naturally, selling his headphones company has landed Dre firmly in the black, with more than enough cash on hand for snapping up mansions with moats. Shit that's going to be some high maintenance though. Gonna cost alot for grounds keepers n maids, etc.
Yeah it will employee alot of people maintaining that place. I agree that it is a bit over kill and it is wrong that one can live like that whilst others struggle,

I agree that it is a bit over kill and it is wrong that one can live like that whilst others struggle, Why is it wrong? Dre earned that money and he deserves it. He kept up an impeccable standard of quality over the decades. This is only the fruits of his labor, who are you to deny a man what he has gone out and earned? If you want to make others equal with Dre then teach them to make fire joints like "Keep The Heads Ringing". And if they can't do that then they have to come up with another way to satisfy the consumers in the market...If everybody was just given a billion dollars then inflation would set in and the dollars wouldn't be worth shit. If you want everyone to be given a mansion then you have to find workers to produce a mansion, and then you have to pay them for their services to build that mansion...People really have to learn basic economics, I was taught that shit in elementary school. We studied "oppurtunity cost" as early as 4th grade, it's a simple concept that even government economists with degrees don't understand.
Becoming shortly the first hip hop billionaire he should've release detox tracks for free, can't understand why is he making music for himself, when as a musician your first priority should be releasing as much as music for the fans as possible, not sitting on them for fucks sake.

I don't believe that to be the case at all. In fact, I think many artists have killed their careers by following that method. I think when artists just flood the market with material, it loses its value, not on a dollar level, but in terms of keeping the listener/viewer/consumer interested in what they are doing. It is always good to leave your audience wanting a little more.
