Lil Eazy-E Is Mad He Wasn’t Cast In N.W.A Biopic
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:05:53 AM »
Lil Eazy-E is feeling in a ways that he wasn’t cast to play his late father, gangsta rapper Eazy-E, in the forthcoming biopic about N.W.A, the groundbreaking Compton rap group.

Reports TMZ:

Lil Eazy-E thinks Ice Cube has BETRAYED the wishes of his former N.W.A. crew member by casting some no name to play Eazy-E rather than his own flesh and blood.
Quote
Lil Eazy tells TMZ … his dad absolutely would have wanted him in the starring role. As Lil put it, “I am my father. I look like him. I sound like him.”

And this part is especially galling to Eazy-E’s son … Ice Cube cast HIS own son O’Shea Jackson Jr. to play Cube. The way Lil Eazy sees it … neither he nor O’Shea are seasoned actors, so why not cast both?

Dr. Dre’s son is in the same boat … he didn’t get cast either.

Is Ice Cube’s son getting cast a simple case of nepotism? Or, maybe Lil Eazy is just a really bad actor? We gotta hear both sides.

The biopic, titled Straight Outta Compton, is due in theaters on August 8, 2015.

I still want to know about Suge owning the N.W.A. name and if Ice Cube got his blessings from Suge. When it was recently announced that 50 was doing a BMF movie everyone wanted to know if it got the Big Meech co-sign. If this movie don't get the Suge co-sign or if anyone in the group has a problem with any of it or their children, then I can't support it. Then there is this:

Kokane Says Ice Cube Is "Doing Something Wrong And Foul" With N.W.A Biopic

Exclusive: Kokane says that Ice Cube should talk to Eazy-E children and Above The Law, among others, in order to properly tell N.W.A's story.

As a member of Eazy-E's Ruthless Records, G-funk pioneer Kokane helped the Godfather of Gangster Rap build a brand that would serve as the prototype for Hip Hop's independent label business model.

But with the buzzed about N.W.A biopic, which is being produced by Ice Cube's CubeVision production company, already in the casting process, Kokane worries that his former boss' legacy is being misrepresented.

In an exclusive interview with HipHopDX, the west coast crooner says he refuses to sit idly by.

"We put a proposal together called 'Protecting the Ruthless Legacy' that we want to get on The Arsenio Hall Show," said Kokane, whose critically new album, Shut da F#@! Up & Cut Da Checc, hit iTunes Jan. 14. "We gettin' it done right now as we speak. Everybody's agreed. And it's gonna be beautiful to see. We'll have all [Eazy’-Es] kids come on, MC Ren, Big Hutch, Yella, J.J. Fad and we're gonna tell the real story because, Ice Cube, I don't fault you for doing this movie. You're a genius, and you show that stereotypes can be lifted off of us, but at the same time you are doing something that's wrong and foul. You're purposely leaving out certain information that is vital to the story."

Kokane said that Ice Cube is making a movie without getting the facts from the people that witnessed it first-hand.

"It's sad cause you see Cube, you see all these people doing this N.W.A movie honoring Eazy, but they're not even getting internal,” Kokane said. "They're lying saying that they're getting in touch with people, but Eazy's children didn't even get a phone call. I didn't get a phone call. Above The Law didn't get a phone call and it's like they're doing it for profit, but they're not doing it authentically from the heart. It's unethical and it's foul. it's like you don't care. You guys care about getting money. But you know the good thing about it: There's always hope out there to have the real story told. It's increments. You gotta go back and touch the people if you wanna get the truth, because there's so much blockage as far as capital. It's a story that if it's told right and somebody can crack open this thing wide enough, everything else is gonna be the prototype for every other story. Trust me."

Kokane is looking to bring the West Coast full-circle with his new label, Bud E Boy Ent., which features a roster of artists and producers from various locations, including one that with ties to the past.

"I'm working with Eazy's son, E3, and he sounds just like his dad," Kokane said. "It's fitting because the way I'm running my company comes from the blueprint that Eric [Eazy-E's given name] started."

The movie is about nwa not ruthless or above the law or kokane.  They didn't pop up until after cube left. This movie is about the impact the group had when straight outta Compton came out. Not all the ahit eazy went through in his life and career. Or else it would have been called eazy Duz it not straight outta Compton.  And it's no ones fault that tomica wright owns eazy shit she is the one dealing with eazy estate since day one

NWA did more after Cube than before though. If you're going to say that it's about NWA then you have to admit that since Ice wasn't there for it all, they need to consult Ruthless artist who were there after him. There is no way to play off the fact that Lil Eazy looks like his pops just like Ice Cube's son does. Why not show Eazy's son love? Give me one good reason why Lil' Eazy shouldn't be able to be in something HIS pops started while the one who left the group and bad mouthed it gets to have his son in it. It's about respect. Let Eazy's kids eat just like you letting your kids eat Ice it's only right. This makes me think that Ice still has bad blood for Eazy after all these years.

Can't understand that move by cube. If his son gets a role why not also let lil eazy get to play the role of his pops ?

I could feel what Kokane is saying if this was a movie about Ruthless records, then reaching out to everyone he named would make sense. But this is an NWA movie so I think he has the right people a part of it.  As far as casting his son, if he can nail the role then why not? Like they said, maybe Lil E is a terrible actor regardless of how he looks.

Why does an N.W.A. movie need Suge's approval?  He wasn't involved in the group.  He didn't like Eazy when he was alive.  If he owns the rights to the name, let the courts figure that out.

I did not think that Suge really owned anything anymore, when he filed for bankruptcy and lost Deathrow im guessing he would have lost
all the rights he owned to names etc too as that would have been tied up in the Deathrow stuff. He owned Tha Dogg Pound name also
but Daz & Kurupt are able to use that name again too. I may be wrong though??

Funny how Ren isn't even mentioned in all this stuff like he wasn't part of the group.  Any word from Ren on the project?

I also tend to take things Suge says with a grain of salt.  He's been known to say some pretty outrageous shit just to get people's attention.
