So Tulowitzki's been in the news recently because he decided to go see a baseball game over at Yankee Stadium the other day to see two also-rans compete for second place in the AL East. Now everybody and their grandma is talking about Tulowitzki coming to the Yankees (that and how the Rockies spelled his name wrong on the t-shirts they gave away). Anybody with common sense knows that Tulo won't be coming to the Yankees anytime soon since the Yankees couldn't offer the Rockies shit and Tulo's under contract for 7 more years. However the question still remains, will Troy Tulowitzki get traded?
Now the Rockies don't necessarily have to trade him. If the last few years have been any indication they're perfectly fine with staying mediocre and letting the prime years of Tulo and Cargo rot in the only place where teams can score runs anymore. But trading someone like Tulowitzki would benefit the team that's not really deep in talent and struggling to take steps forward.
If he does get traded however, the Rockies are going to fuck up that trade royally. For starters they're going to need a trade partner who can take on a significant portion of Tulo's contract AND offer some decent returns. This pretty much eliminates all of the small market teams and quite a few big market teams (there's no way the Mets are going to be willing to take on any money). Plus at this point nobody expects Tulo to have 162 at-bats anymore, let alone play in 162 games. His name value far exceeds his player value and if anybody knows this, it's the team that hypothetically nets Tulo in a trade. Which might be good news for a team with an overrated farm system like the Dodgers. Under normal circumstances Joc Pederson wouldn't get the Dodgers much but he just might be enough to get Tulo if LA also chooses to eat most of Tulo's contract.

So will Tulo get traded or not? He probably will but not this year. Maybe around 2019 or 2020 when his value has gone down dramatically and he's gone from the player whose amazing but always injured to the player who used to be amazing and is still injured. MLB teams always love picking up players like that, especially contenders.

A smart GM would never trade to any NY based team for a guy named "Montero".

I think both Tulo and CarGo have seen their trade value diminish too much after an extensive history of injuries. Don't get me wrong, I'd still gladly take Tulo on the Dodgers, but just speaking from an unbiased perspective, it truly is a shame that Rockies held onto both for so long while doing absolutely nothing with their pitching to help the team make the play-offs.
