I thought his "beef with my record label" theme from that era was a little bit strange.... I mean most fans don't really care that much about an artists problems with their labels... that seemed to be a big topic of conversation for him.  He's a phenomenal talent so he can be tight spittin about just about anything but Soul On Ice was great because he had so much shit to talk about and get off his chest, with the car wreck (where I think he killed someone) and spending time in prison and just coming up in the game for the first time gettin to put his voice out there...

Lyricists like him are actually better over simple Soul On Ice type of beats because you can focus more on the lyrics... I think along with being pre-occupied about his label strife, he was also pre-occupied with thinking the only thing seperating him from being a multi-platinum superstar was great beats... but he got hooked up with that Black Tango beat, Dre verse, he had for the first single on his second album, and the album still didn't sell any better than Soul On Ice as far as I know

Its good he finally released it , but some tracks are not even in that great quality. The "goldyn chyld" is the same shitty vinyl rip that went around for years. It was released awhile ago in CDQ, DJ Kay Slay was also featured on the intro if the album too as he was supporting ras kass a lot at the time. It's a dope album and only has a few tracks that sound real dated, the wack track with mya. Ras kass fans should rejoice but it's been available awhile already...in better quality too

I used to have a copy of the song "Goldyn Child," never knew it was a whole release though. That song always seemed like a good medium between the straight story telling he did on Soul on Ice and the club-type shit he did later on to try and stay relevant.
