I gotta tell y'all that I've grown to PREFER the album version of THAT NIGGAZ KRAZY over the live version.

The vocals from James DeBarge are fucking dope. They make the track truly crazy and they give it unparalleled energy.

The song is an expression of Quik's genius and his vision. He's making music for humans in the next centuries, once our ears have evolved.

i loved that electric guitar so much in the live version that i had to do a re-work of the track. it's a bit messy but i enjoy listening to it. a lot more than the lp version. feel free to D/L it and tell me what u think:

Is Quik dissing AMG on "The Conduct"?  There's a line at the end talking about people bragging they're "Ballin Outta Control" but then work at a train station and have to reapply for their job every year.  I know AMG's album was titled "Ballin Outta Control", so I thought it might have been a jab at him.

Donzelly Ru diss.

Haha, Donzelly Ru works at a train station? Damn, Mr. Theo, how do you know shit like this?? Share your sources with the world, homie.

Who else is Quik dissing on The Midnight Life?

Finally got it.  Given it a few listens in the car, sounds good with the sun blazing down.  I think Quik released it at the wrong time because his stuff always sounds better when the weather is good  8)
I really like it, only a couple of throwaway tracks on here.  My favourites are 'Life Jacket', 'Fuck All Night', 'Pet Sematery' and 'Puffin The Dragon' but all the other tracks bang too.  It's up there with 'The Book Of David' but may rank just below for me.

now that the weather is nice out here on the east and it's been a few months since I bumped this I may have to bring this album back out for the ride today  8)

1. "Intro"   David Blake DJ Quik 1:45
2. "That Nigga'z Crazy"   Blake DJ Quik 3:54
3. "Back That Shit Up" (featuring Tay F 3rd & David Blake II)
4. "Trapped on the Tracks" (featuring Bishop Lamont & David Blake II)
5. "El's Interlude 2" (featuring El DeBarge)
6. "Puffin' the Dragon"
7. "Pet Semetery"
8. "Life Jacket" (featuring Suga Free & Dom Kennedy)
9. "That Getter" (featuring David Blake II)
10. "The Conduct" (featuring Mack 10)
11. "Shine" (featuring David Blake II)
12. "Bacon's Groove" (featuring Rob "Fonksta" Bacon)
13. "Broken Down" (featuring Suga Free & Tweed Cadillac)
14. "Why'd You Have to Lie" (featuring Joi)
15. "Fuck All Night"
16. "Quik's Groove 9"

Same as his last album Book of David, there's about half of it that's wack and can be scrapped. You can combine those 2 albums and have 1 solid album, instead of this experimental, repetitive mixtape quality crap

i think i said everything i wanted to already, but just to add, yeah, agree that the release timing wasn't great. quik's albums, being so bright and musical, should ideally drop in the summer.

everytime i listen to the album, 'fuck all night' always stands out for me, such a dope instrumental 8)

I still thinkit was a cheesy move to name the album "midnight life" after the whole fixers debacle.
