It has to be 91 for me. Before the West Coast became so identified with one sound, when it was at its rawest:
2nd II None-S/T
Above the Law-Vocally Pimpin'
AMG-Bitch Betta Have My Money
CMW-Straight Checkn 'Em
Cypress Hill-S/T
Digital Underground-Sons of the P
DJ Quik-Quik is the Name
Ice Cube-Death Certificate
Ice T-OG Original Gangster
NWA-Efil4zaggin
SCC-South Central Madness
2Pac-2Pacalypse Now
WC & the Maad Circle-Ain't A Damn Thang Changed
Yo Yo-Make Way for the Motherlode
Boyz N The Hood soundtrack

Id agree with that also 93/94 with onyx, first wu album, cypress hill (self titled)/b.i.g (first),doggystyle,regulate,nas...
...what more can i say  :)

i guess the 92-95 era. great music. The Chronic, Enter the wu tang, midnight marauders, doggystyle, enta da stage, illmatic, ready to die, southerplayalisticadillacmuzik, the diary, cuban linx, infamous, me against the world, tons more..  my favorite year probably has to be 94 though, i made an   ipod playlist that matches the list in the egotrip raplist book for the top 40 rap singles for each year, and i seem to play 1994 the most.. flava in ya ear remix, gin and juice, cream, juicy, bring the pain, times up, i used to love her, black superman, it aint hard to tell, the world is yours, i seen a man die, afro puffs, murder was the case, game recognize game, regulate, the hits just dont stop that year..
,
1995 was pretty coo too with shook ones, one more chance, i got 5 on it, brooklyn zoo, big poppa, get money, all i need to get by, incarcerated scarfaces, new york new york, how high, criminology, liquid swords and much more..

93 had nuthin but a g thang, protect ya neck, come clean, passing me by, i get around, award tour, dre day, method man, streiht up menace, electric relaxation, 93 till infinity, slam, throw ya gunz, tonights da night, time for sum action....

i cant believe its already been a decade since this shit was released

Add Lighter Shade of Brown - Brown and Proud, and that's the year that got me into Hip-Hop. All those CDs had songs on the radio, and I could not get away from the radio at all. But my favorite year is still 1993. I feel so old saying this, but the Chronic was blowing up, Cypress Hill, Onyx, Ice Cube, the Check Yourself remix came out, Lethal Injection, 2Pac - Strickly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z. which Keep Your Head Up made me the biggest 2Pac fan, Mr. Grim and Indo Smoke. 1993 just seemed to have that energy, everything was fresh, and it all ended with Snoop Doggy Dogg introducing the new era of westcoast rap with Doggystyle, making way for 1994, and G-Funk living strong.
