I2G chilled with west coast veteran Bad Lucc for an exclusive interview. We discuss his new record, Hood 2 Hood, he makes a HUGE annoucement regarding a new project and much more so check it out.
I2G is here with Bad Lucc, how's it going?
Pretty good man, how you doing?
Good. You just recently dropped a new single entitled Hood 2 Hood. Tell me a little bit about the single and how it came together for you.
It was a record I was working on and I got some good friends of mine, Trick Trick, Mitchy Slick and Fred The Godson. I have been rapping for a while but alot of people do not know me for doing features. As far as my own records, I don't get down with alot of people. I just started branching out and working with alot of my closest friends. Being on the road, you meet alot of people and those 3 are people I respect from different parts of the globe, so it just made since to get people from 3 different regions on one track and see what you come up with.
Do you have any plans of doing a video for the song?
Actually we are talking about it now and putting it together. That was the original plan but I felt like the streets needed to hear this first. We work so hard at Diamond Lane to present you guys with some new things. So I said let me just hit you guys with some new records and it was a dope record to start with. But yeah a video is in the works.
What is up next for you as far as projects?
Diamond Lane America man, Diamond Lane America. Me and my brother Problem doing our thang, doing what we do. It is not what people would expect from us, but I don't want to throw you off, but it is just dope. Me and Prob we do our thing and we make dope music together and it is a official project from me and him. It's showing the world that we are here, we are very independent and we are making a statement.
With this album we are going to make it right. There are alot of things going on in the game right now that people may not like, but it is changing and we are taking it back to dope shows, dope music, great melodies, great concepts and we are putting all that out there, Diamond Lane America.
Do you have a release date set for the project?
Definitely this year, coming soon. I have a date in my head but it would be premature to say, but very soon.
What ever happened to the group Dubb Union? I always wondered why you guys did not drop more music and was anticipating a follow up project.
Yeah man I think with Dubb Union it is what it is family. Me and my brother Damani, Damani had this dope idea, to get 3 of us together from different neighborhoods in California, Me Damani and Soopafly and our first mixtape Houseshoe Musik and later on to do the album with Snoop.
It was just supposed to be that, we did not have a plan for this group to last forever, we just wanted to do something dope. We went on the road, got some videos done, album was put out nationally. I am still good with both of them guys, those are my peoples. It was what it was but it was a moment.
Same situation or similiar, you dropped a track with Mykestro called The Best, which is a banger. There was talks of you guys doing an album together. Same vibe or situation as well?
Yeah me and Stro we never got around to it. Stro is one of my favorite MC's coming from this side of town. We did the record, The Best, that alot of people including yourself, LOVE. Our vibe and chemistry was so dope and we talked about doing an album, it just never came to fruition. That is my man and ain't no telling what the future holds. Mykestro is still one of the dopest.
Absolutely! What are your thoughts right now on west coast hip hop?
I love the vibe man. I love that people now are knowing what we been knowing, that we knew we were dope, we have great music, great concepts, stage shows, and people are getting it now and are more receptive to it. I would love to see more unity, but as long as you are not bickering and fighting it is all good. We are in a very good place right now and I want to continue to keep pushing our movement to the forefront. Diamond Lane is doing it, but it would be selfish of me to say that I only want to reign supreme alone, I want to see everyone be successful.
Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates?
I got alot of spot dates coming up with Problem. I am just working on music right now and getting this Diamond Lane America album finished up right now. I want to have the album complete so I have an album to promote while I am on the road. You will be seeing alot more of me and I will be leaking more records, I might just leak a record today (laughs)
What is your website information?
www.diamondlanemusicgroup.com
. That is the hub for me and Problem man.
Alright well that is all the questions I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shout outs you want to get out there to the people?
Shout out to Diamond Lane, this is what it is. I can't wait to give yall what you need to hear.
