the laker girls were originally a laker only thing........while every team had a mascot, lakers elected to go wit girls to cheer the team on instead. so laker girls were our mascot originally......then, every team followed suit. with boston bein the last to finally hop on board 8)

cheerleaders are not mascots.  they are cheer leaders. 

mascots are dumb costumes with people in them.

this basically says the Lakers started nba cheer leaders, that has nothing to do with mascots.
