Kendrick Lamar’s Album Appears On iTunes A Week Early
« on: March 15, 2015, 10:52:54 PM »
Kendrick Lamar‘s new album To Pimp A Butterfly is scheduled for release on March 23rd but the album has been mistakenly placed on iTunes one week in advance. That’s right, iTunes of all places leaked the new Kendrick Lamar album.

A leak usually happens when somebody at a retail store or distribution plant gets their hands on an album and uploads it to the internet before it’s official release date. But in Kendrick Lamar‘s case, things have happened entirely different.

Fans of Kendrick Lamar can buy To Pimp A Butterfly on iTunes now.

The TDE boss is not happy about the early "To Pimp a Butterfly" release.

Earlier tonight, Kendrick Lamar shocked the hip-hop world by releasing "To Pimp a Butterfly" a week ahead of the album's initial March 23 release date. We thought the early release was Kendrick's effort to beat the leakers, but according to TDE boss Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, the TDE camp was not on board.

Hours before the, perhaps accidental, release, Tiffith asked his twitter followers, "how we feeling 8 days away from the return King Kendrick?" Then, moments after To Pimp a Butterfly appeared on iTunes, Tiffith went back on Twitter to express his alarm. Apparently, Interscope, the major label behind TDE, is to blame for the early release: "I WOULD LIKE TO PERSONALLY THANK @Interscope FOR FUCKING UP OUR RELEASE... SOMEBODY GOTS 2 PAY 4 This MISTAKE !!!!".

Note that Kendrick, on the other hand, doesn't seem fazed, simply tweeting: "Keep calm. All is well."

i'm really enjoying this album so far, track 8 is playing right now...a very big step forward musicwise, very funky, jazzy and with a lot of soul. lyrics will take some time to really get to peoples minds

great album so far

gave it a full listen last night over a couple tall cans. very funky/jazzy, i feel like its immediately more accessible sonically than gkmc minus some of the spoken word skits/intros that i couldnt imagine some of his younger fans feeling at all. but production wise its very funky and soulfull. i read somewhere someone called it Kendricks "aquemini' and i think that might be a solid comparison. i enjoyed it thoroughly, lyrically hes really bringing it, some of the ideas and song concepts are brilliant and much different than what anyone else is doing. envelope pushing stuff while still being an enjoyable listen, hes different without sounding like hes trying to be.

what were u expecting the same rhetorical type beats others with less talents are using trap/club
or were u expecting money cars and bling in every song
either way if u listen to Kendrick older stuff this isnt the first time he used these type of beats

none of the above. I expected some beats that weren't generic...this album's production is too bland.
