Iggy Azalea's "Fancy" May Have Been Written by Skeme

Everyone knows that Iggy Azalea fakes her accent when she raps—but that's far more acceptable than pretending to have written songs that she didn't. Rumors have persisted for months that the Australian emcee doesn't actually write all of her own bars, and now Compton rapper Skeme has been singled out as the most likely candidate for ghostwriting hits such as "Fancy." The performer admitted as much during his stop on the Sway In The Morning radio show with Sway Calloway.

The rapper/writer attempted to dodge questions about whom he had written for when the subject was addressed during the show, pointing out that it would defeat the point of a ghostwriter if he took credit. Still, under pressure from Calloway and fellow guest DJ Drama, Skeme cracked and acknowledged that he was involved in one of the biggest hits of 2014.

"We had something to do with it, a lot of vibe, a lot of push," he said. "We put trust funds up for that song."

Far from an admission of guilt but still a pretty damning implication on his part. Connecting Skeme to Azalea wasn't that challenging; after all, he had teamed up with her mentor T.I. on that rapper's track "Look What I Did" last year. Still, the Grand Hustle Records boss had insisted previously that Azalea'a work was no one's but her own. Nicki Minaj played into the debate by declaring at the BET Awards that "what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it." She denied it was aimed at Azalea specifically but the hip-hop world nodded knowingly.

Only Azalea and those close to her know for sure, and for now all the aforementioned information is strictly alleged. One thing that's fact however: Skeme's great uncle was Howlin' Wolf...which is awesome.

I thought TI wrote all her stuff. This doesn't change my opinion of her as much as it does TI. I mean, I already thought she was a fake and I really have no negative opinion because she wants to be a pop star. She even stresses that she's a hip-pop star, so with that I can give a fuck who her ghostwriter is.

this actually makes sense now since I thought the Iggy feature on Ingleworld was random and then not long after "Fancy" did well T.I. gave him a feature... hmmmm

Everyone knows that Iggy Azalea fakes her accent when she raps—but that's far more acceptable than pretending to have written songs that she didn't.

Not really. Having a lyric writer is way better than having an entirely fake persona.
