glad you guys are enjoying it. i'm gonna upload it to mega.co.nz so there's not confusion and an abundance of ads and false download links. i'm also going to upload my hi-res version of the SD version. it's gonna be a huge file (about 4.5gb) and won't be true HD, but it should be better quality if some of y'all want that version. they'll be up later today. peace.
here's a higher quality recording (it's almost 6gb though ):https://mega.co.nz/#!vY8SVZyS!BCidc43xuYXEs-9yUCiRPgOAbSipfWPA8XszvfJX09Ahopefully this version doesn't have the image-lag as bad. but, if you guys still see it happening too often, i'll re-record the episode and re-upload it. peace.
great piece on Quik. it's always great to have more context on dude so you can appreciate just how much of a legend he is. not that the music alone doesn't cement that interesting they said he worked with Will Smith on there. as far as I know there isn't any credit for a collaboration, though people here speculated it was that 'Block Party' track, which sounds a LOT like one of his records.
Finished watching the episode this morning. It was a great show, but obviously they needed to leave so much history out of it. The most disappointing omission, to me, was that none of the albums between Rhythmalism and The Midnight Life were mentioned! There's a lot of important DJ Quik history from ca. 2001-5 that remains fairly mysterious, and it would have been nice for more attention to have been given to that period. Balance & Options and Under The Influence have some of Quik's best songs, too. But a lot of important shit got covered and the show was a nice, entertaining special. Wish they made a 3-hour version of it, so that more time could have been devoted to the less familiar aspects of Quik's career.
