It's always cool to hear new Tupac, but this song is definitely on the wack side of things. Pac was still hit or miss in 1991-2: when he was inspired or his production was tight, the song came out good, otherwise it could be a little boring. I think 1993 was the year when Pac stopped making mediocre music and could rock any beat, and make nothing but great music (to me, at least). By the time 1996 arrived, Pac reached a level of greatness where he never wrote a wack song.

Agreed.

I've hardly ever bumped 2pacalypse Now.   At that time he still had not figured out how to make great music.

...Then by the time Strictly 4 My Niggaz came around he was still a bit hit and miss.  I mean he could make great songs like "Keep Your Head Up" and "Holler If You Hear Me" but I think most people skip over a few songs when listening to that album.  The success of that album really opened the door for Pac and then he was able to do whatever he wanted, work with whatever producers he wanted, and make his own decisions about his career.  Ultimately he became invisible after that album, and the rest is history...

On the Thug Life album there is no bad song, and people who like that album play it front to back without skipping any tracks.  He did say that the whole "Thug Life" mantra hit him like the Holy Ghost—and by that time he started to become incapable of making bad songs.  Everything he did by then was good.  It was by that time that he had became so great that even his scraps, B Sides, and unreleased songs could be taken later, posthumously—and used to create 2X platinum classics like—R U Still Down.

i like those beats and they still sound fresh to me..for me this sounds stands for this period of pac's career, which was also really dope. but yeah, beats definetly sounds very "oldschool"..not that fat soundin' beats like on his later stuff
