On this day in 1991, DJ Quik born to the music world.

Your Thoughts? let's review the Classic LP.

Sweet Black Pussy - a shocking way to start the album, Quik probably got the inspiration from Candyman

Tonite - the classic, Quik flava all the way... 1st time Kleeer Tonight was sampled

Born and Raised in Compton - inspired by NWA..Quik's mom favorites track sampled (Isaac Hayes)

Deep - funky track, it's clearly inspirated by X-Clan.

Tha Bombudd - Quik always was fan of reggae

Dedication and Quiks Groove - that chill instrumental, jazz influence

Quik is The Name - another Quik own flava

8 Ball - EAZY-E influence all over it

Tear it Off - NY sound "James Brown sampled" influence..Public Enemy style

I Got That Feelin - HEAVY INFLUENCED BY ABOVE THE LAW "BALLIN"

Skanless - DJ Quik own flava

This album was inspired heavly by Above The Law, Eazy E and X-Clan with of course DJ Quik own style in it ( tracks like Tonite,Skanless )

Masterpiece

Peace Quik!

Really great album, I was impressed when first time listened to this. Especially that it's form 91'.

Great album, but to me, it's way more inconsistent that the rest of Quik's albums. Some songs sound way ahead of their time - like Tonight and Quik's Groove - while others, like Deep and I Got That Feelin, sound like they're from 1991. It was after Way Too Funky that Quik started to make albums that were completely on some 2020 shit - and I ain't talking about perfect eyesight, I'm talking about the year.

I was a senior at Westlake High School  ::)  when this came out.  Both street and smooth at the same time with great production.  Nothing like it, his best album to me.
