DJ Quik revealed the two are working on collaborative projects. “I think an EP first. Because, you know, my ADD won’t let me do a whole album no more. Scarface and I, we’re working on an EP actually. We’re actually recording every show that we do into Pro Tools, all stemmed out.”
“We’re gonna listen back to it,” he continued. “[We’ll] see how we feel about it after the tour is done. In the mean time, in the interim, we’re writing lyrics and making music on the bus. It just makes sense for this to be an EP. Not to just sell – like ‘Oooh’ let’s put a record out, but it’s to congeal this whole experience and give it to people.”
Eventually, Scarface showed up to sing DJ Quik’s praises. “In my opinion, I think Quik is the best f*cking mixer, producer-engineer.” He also disclosed a bit of some surprising news, saying he’ll be retiring his name in August of 2018—which will mark his 30th anniversary in the game since 1988’s Geto Boys album Making Trouble—instead choosing to go by his government name, Brad Jordan.
