That Joint is fire not sure if Hitboy did both bear breakdowns of the song but damn Hitboy been killing the game the last three years and his work with Big Hit and Alchemist and Larussell also Nas (really slept on work) has been insane

Didn’t like Hit Boy work with Game tho the Big Hit and Game album was admittedly not mastered and you can tell doesn’t sound good loud at all in the ride headphones nothing

Game has a good ear for beats but the ones he chooses from Hitboy aren’t the best

Snoop and Hitboy on BoDR but as dope too real good combo … Hitboy been on it
What You may not know is that a nigga from the west produced this HITBOY

To go circle back to the MISSIONARY topic; Do yall think that some of the production will come from the LL Cool.J x Dr.Dre album that was recently scrapped? They did over 30 songs

Xzibit was popular in the UK, because he had a couple of those Dre sounds, which were everywhere on the charts at the time (Eve, Stefani, Mary J etc.) also appearing on Eminem albums helped too. Hitman and the others not so much. Can't recall Just Dipping ever being popular, although it did get a few showings on late night MTV shows like Yo Raps, just like the 'Game Don't Wait (remix)' did too, but didn't have commercial success here.

But in 1999, many were still holding out and hoping to see Outlawz music videos on TV, some new Death Row artists.

in the underground

he wasnt star status til he got wit dre

that's exactly when I really took notice of him

the only thing I knew about X in '96 is that he was that cat who made paparazzi

I knew the video seeing it on BET and thought it was a tight track but didn't really know anything much about him

then again I cant speak for other parts of the US at the time only NYC

Xzibit's been a top 5 of mine ever since "Bitch Please" came out.

My first memory of him is they actually do a couple sidebar type features of him in that classic Source magazine from August 96' when Suge was on the cover--came out like a week before Pac was shot when it seemed Death Row was unstoppable and Suge and Pac were on top of the world then it all changed a week later.  They were giving Xzibit a hard time in the article.  Like even saying shit like, "aren't you just another emcee on the shelf" and shit like that in the interview.  But it's kind of dope that I remembered it.  I didn't read the Source cover to cover in those days, I would skip bits and pieces but for whatever reason I remember reading the entire article and album review of Xzibit and vaugely remember the "Papparazi" video.

Loud Records deserves props for giving X a push.  They tried to push his first record and tried even harder with 40 Dayz and 40 Nightz--he had a solid budget for that album and used his connections to get a lot of solid features and productions, and the "What U See Is What You Get" video was so well done that that shit hit #1 on BET summer of 98'.  I wasn't a huge fan, he was just kind of like one of those artists you respected but maybe not catchy enough to make you wanna go buy his album.  I remembered the line in the music video where he like runs into King T, and then Flava Flav in the middle of a riot its like...

"The Liks and King T/
Guarnateed to bring the house down naturally
Niccaz knowing no limits like Master P"

that line stood out for some reason in a crowded as summer.  That was the summer of 98' when everything was fucking popping from music to movies to sports to the economy shit like the height of civilization. But I officially became a fan of him the same way I became a fan of Eminem.  It wasn't even from a song or anything, it was just a news clip that he was linked to Dre.  I saw Em in one of the hip-hop mags like Blaze or some shit in summer of 98' saying he was a white rapper from Detroit and I was automatically a huge fan.  Then around the time of "Bitch Please" MTV did a little news clip saying Dre had signed on to executive produce Xzibit's next album.  I instantly became one of his biggest fans and went out and bought his first two albums and bumped the shit out of "Welcome 2 L.A." Mel Man produced.  That shit banged hard as fucc in my Polk Speakers.  "Focus" was a joint that made me convert to Islam just cause he said "Fast Friday straight" and I knew Muslims fasted and went to the mosque on Fridays.

Hopefully Dre and Snoop study LL and Q-tips new album to see how vets should get down in the game.  The Force is true art with production that is both fresh and nostalgic,  classic and experimental.  And LL absolutely murders this album.  If anything, this album shows that the grests can still be great at an advanced age.

I REALLY hope Snoop and Dre can bring it

I think it pretty much boils down to the dre production on the new album. To be honest I don't think the new style we have heard from dre over the last few years with the thicker more musical style will fit snoop at all. Snoops rapping style is based upon simple rhythm so im just hoping the production is way more stripped down.

One thing for sure is that Snoop will sound at his absolute best on this album as he always does with Dre associated.  It all comes down to what the production and vibe of the album will sound like for me.  Will it sound dated?  More grand and musical like the Marsha album?  Or will we get an entirely new and fresh Dre sound?  I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

The fact that Sting is a confirmed guess should be an indicator that the album will be more on the musical side

was bumping Doggystyle for the first rhyme (time) in years this week.  It was still flawless and brought back so many great memories.  The Itunes version has "G'z Up And Hoes Down" which I had not bumped in years, because I had the o.g. album with that version but just hadn't listened to it in years.  That track flows so well with the sequence of the album.  Then that fuccin "PUMP PUMP" shit comes in so fire, with the Lil Malik and love how they used it in the Above the Rim movie.  One complaint on the Itunes version though they have that long intro in front of Doggy Dogg World as part of all the same track.  So it makes it hard to play on repeat.

Also, I know nobody ever wants to give Daz his props but I think Daz contributions to the album are FIRE!!  He was all in like practically riding harder on that shit than Snoop himself.  Like you really believed he was ready to fuccin take a bullet or some shit just to show he didn't give a fucc and make his point.

...Only one track I had to skip, "Murder Was The Case".  I got to admit, as nostalgic as I am for the good ol days, that shit really is kind of about selling your soul to the devil and shit like that.  I mean I don't think it was part of some industry conspiracy back then, I think it was just some shit that Snoop and Dre thought would be dope, and it was the hardest shit ever and still is... but I can't help but admit even back as a kid I kind of took it as like "oh yeah cool, the devil is gonna make Snoop "live like a baller loc, havin money, and blowin hella Chronic smoke"

yeah its hard to make the argument that Doggystyle isn't the GOAT album

its as perfect as you can get and Gz Up Hos Down which I'm lucky to have on my OG CD just makes it even more complete

now if only we had the OG Next Episode to close it out like its listed on the back

but Pump Pump more than does the job as the closer
