That was also my verdict and still is. The album sounds good from a distance on a high-quality, professional system. On my Adam Audio's in my studio, with a subwoofer and an acoustically treated room, it sounded good too. My problem was this: in the car, on my headphones, and on regular speakers it was a disappointment. The "high frequencies" are simply too loud and the mixes are very bright. Maybe this album really was intended to be produced for studios, Dolby Atmos systems, and big stages. It just is what it is: The old Dr. Dre sound aesthetic still sounds fantastic on EVERY speaker and EVERY headphones.
it's called stadium music when u blast it on high end stadium speakers at full volume, it maintains clarity he starting doing that with compton, but at least compton maintained some thickness to it ... missionary just went all in on the thin sonics, which doesn't sound good on a regular system unless u turn the bass way up and lower the treble.
