SNOOP DOGG - MISSIONARY (Official Discussion)

So...a few thoughts.

First off, I think it's very possible that while Dr. Dre wants to make great art, Snoop just wants make songs, and if they suck, they suck. If they're good, they're good. But I don't think it's something that's of much importance to him anymore. He knows his reputation is built mostly on The Chronic and Doggystyle, along stuff he released between Tha Doggfather and Tha Blue Carpet Treatment.

To put it bluntly, Snoop's a celebrity. He likes having fun. He likes making money. I like Snoop. He's cool. But I don't think he's much of an artist anymore. Whereas Dr. Dre's artistry isn't even a question. The question is just whether he will ever release more new stuff.

Now, if he is able to get to a point where he's satisfied with the Snoop album, that'd be beautiful. But to be honest, I don't see it getting done, cuz to me it doesn't seem Snoop has that laser focus that Dre and Eminem and other guys have on their projects.

I agree with you for the most part, but let’s not forget Dre has actually said on record the album is done and is going to come out.  Snoop seemed to have spent a lot of time over a two year period working on this album so if it doesn’t come out, it’s on Dre IMO.

Now that I’m seeing the Marsha and Eminem rollouts, I do actually think this album will come out.  And I think we’ll likely hear something from it late summer/ early fall.

To me the most positive sign it;s coming is that the Marsha album is somehow actually getting released... That does send me a very positive sign, but then again it's much more likely it won't, sadly

Yes if Marsha is getting released, Snoop will get released.

worth noting that Marsha's album has been 100% complete for a while whereas Snoop's is still recording/finishing touches/mixing. in Dre terms that's a big deal and i don't think it's safe to say it's going to release.

Tha Dogg Pound members Daz Dillinger and Kurupt have revealed on the Drink Champs podcast, hosted by N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, that Snoop Dogg’s new album Missionary, produced by the legendary Dr. Dre, is set to release next month under the banners of Death Row Records, Aftermath, and Interscope.

The announcement came around the 16-minute mark of the Drink Champs episode during a conversation about the collaborative efforts behind the W.A.W.G. (We All We Got) album. Kurupt detailed the collective sacrifices made by the group, including the postponement of their individual projects to prioritize the group’s work. This unity and shared focus culminated in the exciting news of Snoop Dogg’s upcoming album, with both Daz and Kurupt confirming its July release.

During the discussion Kurupt revealed, “When Delmar came home, Dogg said DPG time.  It was like everybody sacrifice.  You damn Skippy.  Eastsodaz sacrificed their record, I sacrificed my solo record, Daz sacrificed.  We all sacrificed.  Dogg sacrificed because he got an album dropping in July!  His album with Dr. Dre dropping in July.”  Daz concurred, saying, “He got an album with Dr. Dre dropping in July.”

Snoop has hosting duties for the summer Olympics which run from July 26 to August 11th.  This would be a perfect marketing opportunity to drop Missionary

I’m not sure too, especially when Billboard mentioned that Eminem’s album is dropping 15th of July.

Unless Aftermath planto roll out their records one after the other like that
