While I do respect your opinion, I totally disagree.

Sounds pretty good in my car, crisp clean & slapping, same in my new Boom Plus 2 (for my holidays).

I had to put it after Jason Martin tracks on my playlist because the audio quality drops for those when I put them before Gorgeous & Ego Maniac.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree about the song.

It’s a good song that will stand the test of time.

I like Gorgeous well enough, but like you when I first heard the piano I thought it was the one.   Still, I don’t mind it at all, just but a great first single.   It’s My Ego is okay in my opinion but nothing too special…pretty formulaic. I like the “remix”…overall it’s a quality track.

It’s my Ego is a good catchy song that jumps at you straightaway, like Favourite colour Blue & Rag Tied.

gorgeous is weak

everything on rbx album is better

and when the piano first hit i initially thought it was dope

but the more i listen n compare it to less contrived shit the more i realize what a weak effort it is

keep in mind dre has always been my inspiration in producing

if u bump it’s my ego immediately after gorgeous u will see the difference

its my ego is a "xxxx type of beat #47" produced by xxxxx (any fucking amateur youtube beatmaker).

write "free west coast beats" to youtube and listen a few immediately you will see the similarity.

it’s my ego sounds like an organically done vintage west coast joint .. this is the kind of shit true to cube and EA Skis sound .. not steppin out his comfort zone like snoop n dre on Gorgeous

They are two different tracks though. I see ''Gorgeous'' as an attempt to reach the POP audience, while ''Its My Ego'' is for the core Ice Cube fans. Sonically Gorgeous is better, it sounds amazing in the car too, and I've heard it in a store as well and it fit the atmosphere.

Now, do I think this is a great lead single to hype the album; Absolutely not, but again this may be a failed attempt to go Pop

i don't know why you guys think its my ego is for core ice cube fans.

i'm expecting a few core ice cube fans to show up here so let them talk. i want to hear what the core ice cube fans wants.

it sounds fun when somebody who is not a core ice cube fan talks about what core icube fans want.

"its my ego" type of song doesnt represent any era of ice cube, i meanice cube was "the ice cube" like he was kendrick.

i can tell you’ve never gotten into EA Ski and his name is mostly unfamiliar to you

show me a free west coast beat that compares to it’s my ego in terms of layering and sonic mastery

Its my ego is not my jam, dont like the beat, that al green sample is played out. E a ski has way doper instrumentals in his vault.

Gorgeous is kinda fresh. Still i hope for something more thundering from Dre.

Looking back he has had almost only failed attemps starting with the Big Bang (really like that album now). His beats were way too repetitive in that era; blue carpet, kingdom come, etc. People said shit was boring.i think he got insecure.

Relapse/refill had more element of surprise, but Eminem had wack vocals and hooks on it. Topless, hey young world were dope promising leaks. But he dropped i need a doctor! Wackest shit ever.

Compton he changed his style to way too chaotic, with horrible Focus… vocal samples. Satisfiction, talk about it, genocide. Ugly.

After 20 years or so of waiting, since tha last meal/in tha club/documentary/big bang, he cant let us down and he has to release something proper. Because the legacy is crumbling, comparing to Quincy jones for example.

I did like lock it up on the Eminem album though.
And looking back the beat on Kush is fresh.
Back against the wall with slim da mobster (not the beat but the rap),2/3 gems on compton and gospel on the contract.
Add T.I. Dope

That is not much for the past 10-15 years.

Still excited for that New album.

bro, i am not comparing the mastering quality. i'm talking about the vibe and how cheap it sounds today in 2024.

just check a few free west coast beats on youtube, you will find way more better beats. it is fucking easy to do some organic early 00s west coast beats. even ea ski is able to do it still :)

if you are going to make a vintage west coast song for some core west coast fans today, you cant do it like just you did 20 years ago.

for example kendrick's "king cunta"... you can hear mausberg's "get nekkid" vibe and dj quik vibe, but its fucking sounding fresh, new and original. that song doesnt sound like a fake ass youtube free beat. you know what i am talking about now?

and i still insist, its my ego type of shit is not ice cube's shit, never was

for example xzibit's "play this at my funeral"... it smells xzibit from start to end. so you can call it "its for core xzibit fans".

“It’s my Ego” is boring and the effort from Cube on that is pretty low.  The remix is much better.  The beat is the vintage west coast sounding beat people on this forum want everything to sound like.  It’s good, but nothing groundbreaking.  Sounds like it could have dropped in 99 TBH.

“Gorgeous” still sounds fresh to me after a couple weeks.  I agree it’s not the smash I expected from Snoop and Dre.  I watched a YouTube review who described it as “Adult contemporary Rap” and I agree with that.  I don’t want Snoop and Dre rapping about gang banging in their 50’s.  I’m fine with the style on Gorgeous.  Keep it smooth and the grooves going.  Snoop slides over that beat and it’s funky.  The flow and the horns during the second verse are awesome IMO.  I still do expect some bangers and more aggressive sounding beats on Missionary, though.

Jesus, more bickering.

Anyway from what I heard on that trailer, it does sort of sound like it's a different beat to me, but it's hard to tell between the sound effects.
