With all the guest spots, I see where dude is comin from, but at the same time, all the guest spots showed the artists in their top form. It may not have been an all solo album like Illmatic was, but at the same time, it didn't really matter because the guest spots only added to the greatness.

Damn tho if he had some cuts with Dre on there, and had more time to perfect it.......man this is about as close as an album could come to bein heavenly.

I agree, I can see where the author is coming from. It took a while for me to get into this album, it was ahead of it's time when it dropped. Musically, nothing like this had ever been attempted and Snoop's style was completely unique at the time. Of course now I can look back and marvel at how incredible this album is and it's an unquestionable classic in the eyes of any sane person but back then, I didn't see it right away. There are other classic albums that I didn't "get" right away, such as Low End Theory or Rhthmalism. It's one of the risks of doing something brand new and boy did it pay off for Dre, Snoop and company.

The thing is, you can listen to Doggystyle in 2005 and it does not sound dated at all. How many albums can you say that about that came out 11 years ago?

Woozie:

Didn't the source correct that also?

Larrabee:
If I had to pick just one album that showcases the absolute BEST in vocals and production, it's gotta be Doggystyle. I look at it like...Snoop at his best, Dogg Pound at their best, Nate, Warren, Rage...everyone performed their asses off. And Dre's classic beats sealed the deal. Best album ever, imo.
