Huge DPG fan so im happy for anything and everything, but this is actually is a decent album. You can tell they threw it together in a short period of time but it’s pretty fun. I think it’s missing one or two legit slappers but hopefully we still get another Dogg Pound album with some more of those. On a negative…Kurupt…how do you go from being one of the most ferocious emcees to just continuing to drop sloppy freestyles…frustrating…

But ya overall, decent album and better than a lot of shit out these days.

Side note… both Kendrick AND Drake are very overrated.

Saw Cube and Xzibit a month ago, then 3 more
times before that over a year which was great.

Snoop, Quik, Warren, Twinz, Dogg Pund June 12th…We can hate all we want but this shit has been fun and these OG’s are selling out Canadian tours.

Album is pretty decent but of course it could've been better. Pretty dope songs it's just inconsistent mixes from song to song and poor mastering. A lot of the songs are lower on the volume side then you get My Favorite Color Blue which is a lot louder but has a harsh mix as far as the highs and the vocals too far above the music. For a legacy act like the Dogg Pound for Snoop to cheap out on the mixing and mastering. They said they did the project in a matter of days and you can tell. The album is good, but if they would've taken their time, we might have gotten a way better project.

Got my copy from iTunes since Friday because I figured the album ain't coming out on CD and have been listening since.

I've got to give it up to Tha Dogg Pound for coming with a great album that sounds fresh and modern, spearheaded by Snoop Dogg and helped by Mike and Keys production and a few bangers from Rick Rock.  It's easy to jump into and pick out your favourite tracks and doesn't outstay its welcome.  It helps too that the album incorporates elements of funk, soul and RnB alongside the traditional gangsta rap that DPG are known for, gives the album a more well-rounded sound.

Of course you have a Battlecat thumper on here, and his talkbox work throughout the project really goes above and beyond and makes the album for me.  Same with DJ Premier, a perfect way to close out the album with Rage and RBX.  Kurupt can still be a lyrical monster when he wants to, as proven by this track, and how good does Daz sound over a DJ Premier production by the way?  Butch Cassidy's appearances really deliver and add a lot to each track he's on as well, and shout out to Soopafly for putting in work on a couple of tracks, Jelly Roll too for probably the most DPG-sounding banger on here.

If I had to be picky I would have done away with the LA Kind of Love track, it sounds like they were hoping for a pop radio station to pick that one up and run with it.  I would have replaced that track with either of the two extra ones - Finesse or Baggin You Up.  A Nate Dogg feature would have been perfect, and a Warren G appearance would have been nice too.  I also agree that the mastering could have been improved a bit to give a more consistent sound to the album, but these are only small gripes.

Overall, I'm impressed with the album and will be banging it all summer and beyond.  Hopefully Dogg Food 2 will be on the way in the future.

Agreed. Always surprised the love Cali Iz Active gets. Good singles, but a lot of forced radio / southern records to appeal to the mainstream.

Agreed, RBX album smashes this outta the park.  Way more replay value and attention to detail.  Im adding Whos the Hardest to the RBX playlist as a bonus bonus  8)
