DAZ DILLINGER - RETALIATION, REVENGE & GETBACK 2 (Official Discussion)

Pretty dope album. I like it better than snoop's new one and possibly xzibit's. I only did one listen. I need to hear something at least 5 times to really judge it. But, first listen I think it is one of his top 4/5 albums. That lil' C-style feature was dope as hell. I wonder when that was recorded since he's been locked up for a long time.

However they got it, lil C Style gave his best on that performance.  I also wondered how he was able to get the most out of Kurupt on that opening banger.  Kurupt sounded tired and old on his later appearance but the opener were solid.  It sounded like they expected Rage to appear on the song and she pulled out last minute — because she’s mentioned twice in the track.  It’s clear Soopafly is a big factor on this album coming out solid and probably part of the reason Daz called it a “2” because Soopafly helped a lot to make RRGB o.g the classic it was in 98’.

I’ve only done one complete and thorough listen and the whole album is listenable I didn’t really find much filler.  And these are the top bangers in order:

#1. “The Reason” -  this was the type of stuff I wanted on Xzibit’s KingMaker I wanted another Napalm “Meaning of Life” type track and Xzibit didn’t give it to me proper but Daz did.  Not as good as “Meaning of Life” but still something you can bump on repeat.

#2.  “Death Row N-Mates” Soopafly brought Daz back to 98’ on this one this one could open up a concert show, have them bustin out of jail, shit is bananas 🍌 and Kurupt is the good Kurupt we love. 

#3.  “Ask the Homie Daz” this ain’t really an allusion back to 98’ RRGB but actually takes you back to 94’ “Who Got Some Gangsta Shit”

#4.  Calculate Time
#5.  Start Back Bangin
#6.  Westcoast is Best Coast
#7. Get Bacc - has that DOC sample

The album is cool. I give it a 6.5/10.
I expected better, even though the album has some excellent songs, there are some that I don't really like.

The second Kurupt track is exactly why you want Dogg Food 2 on Death Row. What a terrible song. They need someone overseeing the project to ensure crap like that gets left on the cutting room floor where it belongs.
