Dre dropped Marsha album and it didn't even chart. It's not like he cares about sales anymore

Compton was Dre's album and it dropped 10 years ago lol. Completely different scenarios. Snoop album was never gonna sell these days.

Missionary sold more than the last 10 Snoop's and Snoop related projects combined in it's first week alone. I think both Dre and Snoop are fine with Missionary sales, since they not dumb and never expected it to go platinum. Not sure if they're happy about the reception tho....

snoop n dre theoretically should sell ... and i think it would've went at least gold if they gave the people what they wanted

Bro it's not 99 (or even 2009) anymore
There's simply no chance ANY kind of a Snoop Dogg album going gold in 2025. Even Dre himself barely went gold with his last album (and unlike Missionary, his album got despite great reviews and had a whole movie as a promo) and that was 10 years ago. Keeping it strictly west coast would've add maybe 5-10k to their numbers, but it wouldn't have magically boosted it to 200-300k

Let's face it, they both are legacy artists now and are irrelevant when it comes to current music. It feels like Dre is putting out shit just for fun of it. I'm not complaining tho, it's cool to hear something with a Dre name on it anyway.

compton went gold with no single .. no radio .. no video

snoop is actually a bigger name than dre nowadays

it's doable .. killer mike is a "legacy artist" who did it just last year

We got more Dre music in 2024 than ever before last time was prob 2000 Eminem MMLP. Xzibit restless and Snoops last meal

Then Dre did the Busta Rhymes work on Genesis, Mack 10s Hate in your Eyes and Mary’s Family affair

It’s crazy cuz all of those were huge

But now not everyone cares or remembers even those songs outside of Mary’s … Xzibit is a far shadow of his former self and won’t catch a blink of his third or even first albums sales in the next week he can’t even get a single to resonate with any one

But the beauty we are all missing is did you enjoy it?

I enjoy what I enjoy and if you good with that, that’s why legacy acts stick around, if you ain’t then you ain’t, and that’s that for me I fuck with 65-70% of Snoop’s album he drops dope shit but if you don’t agree as most of the world and his fan base has moved on or are older and moved way beyond waiting outside of a record store for shit to drop .. it’s gone the 90 and the 00s

But you can enjoy that Dre has produced more music than ever and Snoop was on his a Game for Dre on those beats

Or leave it alone and move on like the rest of the world did …

The whole movie was like a promo tho.... Missionary didn't have a video until like a week after it's release date and it wasn't even a video for a song, it was a 10 minutes youtube movie. It did have couple of singles but the label didn't push it anyway. So I don't know about you, but to me a #1 movie in the States sounds like a bigger promo

Snoop is definitely bigger as a celebrity because he's everywhere, but not as the artist. It's easy to see when music fans actually check out at least for some of Dre's new shit, while Snoop's efforts been mostly ignored since 2016.

Killer Mike did what exactly? Because he surely didn't drop a project that moved units....
He dropped a critically acclaimed album and I never argued that it was doable for a legacy artist to do so in 2020's (shit LL just dropped one too) but it's not gonna be a huge hit unless you're Eminem.

Like come on, Kendrick dropped an absolute juggernaut of an album and it did only 320k (less than TPAB from 10 years ago), despite being a #1 dude from the west coast, having his biggest year ever and 3 #1's hits in one year. You seriously expected Snoop of all people to match his numbers?

At this stage in their careesr, I'm glad you be getting music from them and I'm enjoying it.

I might be the only but Snoop releases still get me excited , as long as Snoop is getting on the mic and rapping, I'm in for life.

They must be doing it for the love and themselves now, especially Snoop.
