there's some decent stuff on here but it suffers from being like so many Snoop albums and ironically the opposite of Missionary - underproduced, lack of direction. too many songs just throwing things together and seeing what sticks.

I like the album, but I understand the criticism. Nothing stands out or is remarkable, but Missionary was even more boring, and it was blatantly pop-music and commercial sounding. At least this album has no pretense of trying to achieve mainstream acclaim. Face it: Missionary was pretentious. This album is at least humble with its ambitions. It's not trying to be anything spectacular. Once again, the songs are so short that they end before they get annoying. Listening to Missionary, I'm constantly waiting for the album to start in earnest, and it just never does. It has no replay value to me. IIAC has replay value as baccground music in the ride.

I disagree when people say Missionary had no embarrassing songs. I guess your taste is very different from mine. Most of Missionary is embarrassing, imo.

Give me songs like West Up and Snoop Will Make You Dance and I'm good. Dre is waaay too stubborn these days to make songs like this which the fans actually want him to make, not some b.s. pop music. It's not that difficult, but Dre's stubbornness is a symptom of his losing his touch.

IIAC is like BODR Part II to me. It's a tapestry album where you have to play the album through because it's very middle of the road throughout. Bacc in the day, artists would focus on making a banging single and fill out the album from there, but Snoop isn't doing that these days.

Bottom line: It's a good album to satiate the fans until the next album drops. IMO. It's not at all in the top half of Snoop's discography, but I'm not expecting that from Snoop either. He has so much going on outside of music that he's not going to push any buttons in his music anymore.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

There are literally like 3 songs on Missionary that have pop or pop-rock sound. Out of 16 lol, what the fuck??
I guess IZAC is also a pop album, since it has that pop-sounding autotune joint with Pharrell.

I can see why people are disappointed with Missionary or find it boring and I somewhat agree with that. It was trying too hard to be *something* and was a somewhat of an overproduced mess, but calling Dre's production on it a fucking pop music or saying it had a commercial sound is plain idiocy, sorry.

Damn those 3 aren’t weak to me, Keep it Moving is west coast knock! Whatz harmonies west coast all a la Slick Rick which is snoop’s bag keeping up with his time really like the song

The first 6 intro are what I wanted and it’s near perfect until the wife love song he has better songs with that subject like I believe in you off paid tha cost .,,

Summertime was disappointing considering him denaun have good songs together and the Pharrell joint is stale and surprising they did that

Lyrically and flow wise Snoop is where he needs to be not sure about Battlecat yet here his vocoder Roger hooks sound undermixed a bit like not on beat so I didn’t listen to snoop will make u dance all the way through yet sounds rushed

It’s a plus up album the first half is damn good and brings you in, and what he needed to do

Not my favorite, but better than Missionary. Don't want to say by how much.

Cold Summer is dope to me, but probably because I like that type of music.

After a few listenings in different settings, I can say that it is better than Missionary but could have been A&R'd better.

Also, the lyrical growth is noticeable now

Wow. If you don't think Missionary panders to commercial interests then I don't know what to say. Missionary was Snoop's attempt to garner mainstream attention and finally win a Grammy but failed spectacularly.

Liking the new Snoop album. Like most Snoop albums, there are songs I love and some I don't like. I always just make my own mix of the songs I like and take out the songs I don't like and make a playlist for myself, cuz Snoop albums always have so many songs on them. People always say, Snoop should cut out songs and make a tighter better album, but knowing how artists are, they will cut out the songs fans want and keep songs like the Sexy Redd song, and the Pharrell song. So I like them to just put out all the songs, and I will pick the ones I like and make my own playlist. This sounds like a Snoop album, unlike Missionary. I'm sorry, but I don't like Dre's newer beats. I will make a playlist of my favorite songs from this album and Missionary to make an album worth of songs I will love.

Nah I agree with that. But he tried to achieve that by putting out a pretentious tryhard overproduced project, not by pop music bullshit or commercial sound. Missionary doesn't even sound modern and doesn't follow current music trends that are popular right now.
