remember the ol school hip-hop forums were funny, there would be some cat that would reply to like every post and become a legend for a few weeks and then at the same time he would diss anybody else for having time to be at the forum and for listening to rap like

Yeah and when the album came out I noted this fact and thought this song and “Beautiful” and “Crack a Bottle” were better than the other tracks because they actually followed the storyline of Em’s life and career.  But those tracks were of course outliers

It was nearly every song on SSLP thru 8 Mile was about his life.   Then on Relapse it was only 3 songs.

it's definitely not all songs about his life... "Kill You", "I'm Back", "Bitch Please 2", "Remember Me", "Criminal", "Amityville", "Real Slim Shady", "Under The Influence", "Who Knew", "Marshall Mathers" to name a few

some of these u can argue were somewhat more subject driven than others

"Kill You" - The whole theme of MMLP was he was responding to critics and the media backlash and sudden fame.  So they said his music was too violent so in "Kill You" he responds rapping, "I invented violence you vile venemous bitches, vein vicodin and rinrinrin... Oh no now he's chokin a whore and 4 mics in the Source" etc, there are many lines I could post like this from the song

"Who Knew" - are you fuccing kidding me dogg?  Just look at the chorus it says, "I never knew I, knew I would get this big..." he's rapping about his sudden fame and responding to all his critics and speaking on the trajectory of his career, etc. give me a break

"I'm Back" - Come on dogg, what the hell are you listening to?  He's responding to how they say he is a bad influence on kids and shit like that and how he's gone crazy from fame and hearing all the bullshit, and introducing himself again like a followup to "My Name Is" it was o.g the first single

"Bitch Please 2" -  He responds to the controversy of Gays with picket signs outside of his shows and an article from Timothy White in Billboard magazine

"Real Slim Shady" - yo this is two obvious, if you don't think this song is about his life and career in rap, and the narrative and trajectory of his career I'm not gonna waste my time explaining (actually I will because I have a lot of time to waste)

"Under the Influence" - he's rapping about how he has to keep it real, and how important it is to be real and authentic in hip-hop, this is very close to him and his character and life and career narrative

"Amityville" is like a rep your city track dog. So that's about him and his fuccin home town of Detroit and the grimey streetz that raised him and made him the MC that he is

never said mmlp wasn't a personal album..

i said mmlp was a blend of deeper cuts and playful cuts ...  saying "im the real slim shady!" doesn't make a cut a deep, introspective joint ... the entire point of the character Slim Shady was that he was some degenerate lunatic who would murder homosexuals and kidnap his wife together with his daughter to throw her in the lake ... and while it does draw from real life situations, it was obviously exaggerated for theatrics to cartoonish levels.


and now we goin as far as sayin "bitch please 2" is a deep cut? damn .... now u even got me questioning if doggy understands MMLP because sayin it was a serious album front to back witout lighthearted joints is some casual shit. but then again, doggy only got into eminem recently.

One of your worst music takes ever at the forum.  Everyone knows that the MMLP was a very personal album and one of the most personal albums in history, hence the title, MARSHALL MATHERS LP, he used his given name because it was a very personal album.
