Val Young has spot in new Eddie Murphy Netflix Doc
« on: Yesterday at 01:31:01 AM »
Apparantly she’s always been tight with Eddie and even came up thru Rick James back in the day and they showed some solo stuff of hers.

Really strange because to mention her basically for no reason in the doc just to say that she was part of Eddie’s old circle of friends that hasn’t died.  And not to atleast flash a clip of “Live and Die in LA” video, no mention of rap or Death Row connection singing back up on rap records

Val Young had a great career prior to Death Row. That period was actually a very small part of her career. Would almost seem as weird if they were to mention Death Row in the doc and not her earlier career.

That's weird, I'm just now finding that out like all these years after "Live and Die in LA".  To me she was just a backup singer at Death Row like Nancy, or Michelle, Danny Boy, or Jewell, and then there's Val Young.  Like, of course, they have 365 days in a year so they don't spend the whole year waiting to get on one or two Death Row songs, so they are musicians outside of Death Row, but I would've thought "Live and Die in LA" was the biggest moment of her life just like Danny Boy got still on VLAD or ART hollering about how he should be a millionaire now just cause he appeared on a few tracks on All Eyes On Me and then the one joint on 7 Day Theory he did back up to the back up, because he was like 4th man after Pac, KC, Aaron Hall, then Danny.

Rick James is underrated as a producer

Charlie Wilson, Zapp, George Clinton, Teena Marie, Rick James were all connected in the 80s
