you'd be surprised at how many samples aren't cleared .. maybe over 80% most the time nobody wants to go through the trouble it takes to fight it .. not really worth it unless the song becomes a smash hit and generates millions
That was my suspicion, that Suge just did it and Dre didn't want to give it any attention and just moved on. I guess the record labels don't double check that stuff either? Like when an album is submitted to an Interscope records, there isn't a legal team there checking all that stuff before the album goes to print? I would think in a sample lawsuit, the record company would be included as a codefendant, so you'd think the record company would be verifying the paperwork and make sure everything is legally good before distributing an album.

So when artists say their albums are ready to go and they're just waiting on sample clearances, the majority of the time, that's not true? Cause you hear that all the time from artists, but you are making it seem like it's rare that artists or record labels even care about clearing samples.
