Thats a westcoast thing...

naah not even

lots of west coast producers are all about sound

matter of fact it's the east coast that was traditionally associated with lo-fi rawness in the sound

but nowadays, cats like daz, suga free, etc just don't put in the attention to detail because they more bout the fast buck than bout quality control

Still not on Apple music naf as far as I know it won’t be there nevertheless after all this issues with mastering I’m not waiting for it anymore.

It's a "no budget" thing.

Is it just me?  I don't hear a DJ Quik feature on Good Enough.  This song was supposed to be on Free's last album, but was pulled at the last minute.  Glad to see it show up here, but where's Quik, just production?

Last time I checked, streaming money was next to zero. Does he not want to sell this album? Kinda weird that after all this time, you can't even buy it lol. Anyone know what's going on here?

Like the album cover though - it's funny lol.

Just gave the album a listen all the way through (on YouTube lol. Seriously, why the fuck can't you buy this lol). This is the best stuff he's put out in a long time but it's definitely flawed. A number of songs sound incomplete... like they ran out of ideas on how to make them better and just said fuck it lol.

In a perfect world, Get it Get it would've been the first single on Free's third Quik-produced album after The New Testament with fonky signature 90s beats. A D'Angelo feature would've been dope too. If 100s was still around, that would've been a crazy collab too. $hort Dogg showing up was cool though.

The first half of the album sounds halfway decent but it starts rolling downhill after that. So much wasted potential man. That last song totally trashed a Quincy Jones sample lol. Free really deserves top tier arrangement and production. He's so unique. Too bad bad he'll never get it again but I'll take what I can get here lol. Get it Get it is the ONE  8)

"Get It" is awesome, it's like 8 years old.  I'm really glad it finally got a proper release.  I think it was supposed to be on some followup Quik/Suga Free album that never ended up happening.  A few of these songs sound older, before he went full forward into his 'punchline flow' where he tells jokes and one liners in all his verses.  Which most are really funny, but it's nice when he just flows like the old days too.

I agree with your assessment, it is the best album Free has released in a long time.  Several leftover songs from his last album like "Good Enough" and "Care About My Hair" which are both great songs.  I'm wondering if they cut the DJ Quik verse off Good Enough, it's only 2 verses and the DJ Quik feature is nowhere to be found.  The song with Too Short is nice too, the Epstein lyrics are funny and timely.  I've got a third of this album on repeat and the rest of the songs are unfortunately trash.  But that's ok, i'll take about 8 nice Suga Free songs.  The DJ Quik collabo "I Can Do That" sounds nice too, reminds of something off the 2nd II None Album "Classic 220".

"Good Day" is a really fun song too, that could easily be a single as well, love the flipped sample.  There is some decent stuff on here, the cover is great too.  Like everyone else said, could've been mixed better.  But honestly, i come to expect that these days from these older rappers that don't really seem to care about that.  Oh well.

so is this a proper suga free album or a compilation?

because "presents" makes it seem as if it's not a solo

and his best album in some time? better than resurrection?

Mixing is terribile as expected, he doesn't care about quality anymore, nothing new.
But I didn' expect "Get It Get It" to be released! This is a real Christmas gift!
Finally we've got also "I Care About My Hair", that's fonky!
"Good Day" is a nice track too.

It's a proper release, it's a solo with a couple guest appearances, but definitely a Suga Free album.

Obviously opinions will vary, but yeah i like this much better than Resurrection.  Other than Hearts and maybe one or two other songs, I thought that album was very forgettable.  This album has at least 5 or 6 good songs after a few listens, i'm sure a few more will grow on me.  That's the best i expect from a Suga Free album.  His subject matter is very limited so it's hard to listen to a straight 19 tracks about pimping bitches, but I can easily pick out a lot a nice songs off this album.

If you're a stickler for mixing, which i imagine you are, you need to get past that to enjoy this album.  Obviously it could've been mixed better.
