D.O.C. is right. Missionary sucked and i'll go a step further and say Dre's entire production/writing team is a significant step down compared to the pre-Compton years. hell even his mixing is somewhat inconsistent with excessive brightness on many newer records. they can all congratulate themselves in the studio but it's the audience who have the final say whether it's classic or not. too many yes men.
It's not really a step further, pretty much everyone been saying it for years. People didn't fuck with Compton, Oxnard and Missionary, his mixing been criticized for more than 10 years now....

It's also crazy how he kept this ICU team for 13 years now, which is longer than any of his previous musicians before them.

Also I don't think any of them are yes men, I believe they actually think music they make is great.

Dre simply didnt want DOC to be around but Why?

Why buy him out from Ruthless in de first place?

He wanted DOC around for writing and input, but wanted him to stay behind the scenes.  Some don't mind being background players.  DOC did it for a long time, but now he wants to move up a bit with this movie and possibly a new album and Dre doesn't want that.

D.O.C. isn't signed to Dre so if that's what he wants he can go ahead and do it

he just wants more support from Dre which he isnt getting- a common theme with unprofitable legends affiliated with iconic superstars

I was gonna say, i'm not sure how Dre is 'blocking' this like people are saying.  Now Dre might not give DOC permission to use Dre footage or songs, but the documentary can still be released without those aspects.

"I sat around but them boys felt like they didn’t need my help. They were wrong."

He's not wrong here.

Also re Detox - the Mark Bateson collab years for me, was peak Detox. That 2003-2008 or so era. That was the prime time to release Detox, but he gave all his banging beats to 50 Cent, Game, Raekewon, Busta Rhymes etc.

On another note, the DOC is in the UK soon and doing a screening of his doc in a small hip hop bar in Brixton. I assumed it must be coming out soon...

No real friendships in rap. All fake. All business.  Not profitable? Bye.
