Dear Dad — I mean Daz,

First off thanks for always being there for me.  When my x-girlfriend in the 6th grade kissed my best friend at the skating rink it was the Doggystyle album that helped get me thru.  And now that I know that you did basically everything on that album and Dre, Suge, and Snoop stole the credit it makes me appreciate it even more.  And when the "Doggy Dogg World" music video came out that same year — I copied your style and because of that my life was happy again.

Then in 98' when I was depressed over Pac dying, Suge being in jail, and mad at the success of Puffy and DMX — it was you who single handedly held up the West Coast with Revenge Retaliation and Get Back.

But Dad... I mean Daz...

I can't help but say I have been dissapointed with some of the choices you've made in life.  Turns out — Calvin — at VIP records was kind enough to give you a job when you came out to the LBC.  And how did you repay him Dad—I mean Daz— You told him you were taking out the trash and stole everything from beat making equipment to vinyls. 

And what's worse?  The fact that you brag about stealing.  You brag about stealing reels from Suge and Death Row.  Then you turn around and get mad at your cousin Snoop saying that he stole credit and points from you on records...

Smh... dad — I mean Daz — I'm just so disappointed.

Please write back and help me rectify and make this situation right in my mind.  Because as someone who has always looked up to you I feel Suge may be a better role model and father figure for me.

Dear Son..I mean fan, allow me to address some of your concerns, know what ah mean?

I give Calvin at VIP records much credit for giving me a job and allowing me to get my feet on the ground.  As we all do when we are young, we make choices that, in hindsight, might not have been the best, but when you're starving and feel like you're hopeless, you do what you need to do.  Years later, Calvin and I made amends, I paid him for the equipment I stole when I was younger.  I also did autograph signings and helped get VIP records free advertising front and center in the "What's My Name" video.  All water under the bridge.  You never hear about those aspects online, only the negative, know what ah mean?

And Son - I mean fan -  you must also realize this music business is a cutthroat business.  All I'm doing is taking back the body of work that I put my blood, sweat and tears into making.  I was working for Suge for basically free my whole career.  Sure, he'd break me off some 20K and 30K checks here and there, but gave me no publishing rights, stole my credits, prevented me from having generational wealth for my kids and passive income, know what ah mean?   Suge took advantage of not only my naivety due to my young age, but all of us at the time.  I have documented proof I'm owed millions which I will never see in my lifetime.  If I can make a small dent in that debt by taking back my reels, that's what I'm going to do and don't feel badly about it one bit, you would do the same thing in my shoes, know what ah mean?

And son - I mean fan - the difference is I was recouping a debt with Suge.  Snoop has no debt to recoup from me.  If anything, he owes me for all the production work and guest spots I gave to him over the years with asking nothing in return other than his loyalty.  The number of concerts I went to with him to up the attendance count when clearly the fans were paying to see me and THE MAN SOOPAFLY, only for Snoop to break me off a $500.00 check after the show and a bag of weed full of seeds.  So no, what Snoop is doing trying to steal my publishing pales in comparison to the Death Row situation, know what ah mean?  And how many times I protected Snoop, went after people trying to do him harm, I'd have died for that fool back in the day.  I took it to Suge to stick up for Snoopy when everyone else was scared to death of that man.  Yeah, you never read about that online, do you? 

Now go buy my new album when it releases next month, and buy the new album I'm gonna release the following month.  And then pick up the Smoked Out Edition of the Michelle album Hung Jury when I drop that soon.  DPG for life, and I own the paw print logo too, know what ah mean, so you better not be rocking that unless you paying me.  And quit whining about shit yoo bitch yooo!!

You really don't know how much this means to me to get a response from you at this dark time in my life.  I've been dealing with depression since finding Snoop dropped the Doggfather — and in spite of your best efforts, the album was a flop.  We know for a fact it wasn't your fault because you were still on fire dropping joints like "Nuttin But A Cavi" and "Way 2 Major" with your dear friend Traycee). 

You've always been there for me.  Like the time I got grounded for bad grades in winter break 1995.  I was a 7th grader then and couldn't go to the big party after the school dance .  But I knew I'd be okay grounded in my room because I had your voice to listen to.  The Dogg Food album had came out and I spent those days in my room grading each song from the album in my journal.  Remember that moment Daz?  I imagined you were there with me listening to my positive critical reviews track by track (and ultimately scoring the album a 9 out of 10 !!)

But now I have to get serious Dad.. I mean Daz,

Mom always told me you were a liar.  Okay, she didn't tell me about you specifically, but she always knew I'd go down the wrong path listening to your type of "n" music she would call it.  She warned me. 

And let's be honest Dad, I mean Daz — if you later repaid and gave back to Calvin and VIP records and made amends for your thievery, should not you be the one to publicize it??  So you are blaming the media for not reporting the good and how many times have you harletted and whored yourself out to Vlad and other interviewers and yet you only brag of the negative !?!  This is almost as bad as your friend Kurupt telling a lie that "New York, New York" was a tribute record.  But I was there, I saw what you did, I saw it with my own two eyes, so you can wipe off that grin, I know where you been — it's all been a pack of lies !!!

Daz didn't have time to write you a letter this time, he's busy working on albums, but i'll fill you in what he told me on the phone when i read this to him:

"I'm a rapper, not a role model, i'm here to make music.  You should be looking up to your parents, teachers, etc. not to some gangster rapper you don't even know.  I don't have to validate my actions to you or anyone else.  I have zero interest in begging and pleading for online fans to love me.  When you're a celebrity, you'll find out pretty quickly that you're in a lose/lose situation with online people, so you just need to do what you do and let the chips fall where they may, nah what i mean"

Sorry Daz wasn't more invested in writing you a well thought out letter this time.  We had a further discussion, but the gist of it is he wants you to just enjoy the music and not worry about whatever goes on in his personal life.

He wanted me to ask you to show how many albums of his you've bought. Especially in the last five years. He said if you were really a good son, you would have supported his work moreso than simply going online and listening to it.
