My guess, from looking at the road atlas is Compton is the most centered city in the L.A. vicinity.  Making it a hub. Like the center of a wheel being called a "hub".

2: the center of a city [syn: civic center, municipal center, down town]

The Long Beach and Los Angeles ports are less than 20 minutes from downtown Compton, providing easy access to international destinations for customers, suppliers and leisure travelers. Also, the Long Beach and Los Angeles Ports are less than 20 minutes away. Collectively, these multi-faceted transportation links lend justification to the city's familiar name, "the Hub City".

use google.com it can be helpful ;D

i thought it was because theres a shitload of rim (hub-cap) shops in compton, its like the big business there. if you want some decent rims, you go to the dub shop, or a smaller retailer.

Yea, the track is called "Raised In The Hub (City Of Compton)". It's the 2nd track on Lil Chill's album and just like all the other tracks on that album is it a dope track...
