the reason why the west isn't doing anything is becuase 99% of the artists on the west refuse to let the genre evolve .....if we didn't let it evolve in 92 with the chronic everything would sound like "dopeman" , but nothing in the westcoast has evolved past 96' , that's why you got dre and snoop running away from the west coast and doing things with everyone else.  everyone wants to remake the chronic or doggystyle no one wants to do anything new......snoop , dre, nate , and now finally quik are all artists who were there from the begining and by their choice of work you can tell they're sick of being in this rutt of THE SAME thing

let's face it all the westcoast is gang banging , too much bass and cheap funk , no one is really trying to make anything new

i dont feel you a 100% on that one. I mean you all say that the old westcoast rappers are refusing to let the genre evolve, and maybe thats right but just look at the mainstream world to... I mean MTV and the media is all over Eminem, 50cent, Redman, Nas and all of them eatscoast cats, and you know that it aint eazy to blow up without the media´s support.

...the problem is the production. I don't feel a lot of the West Coast lately because of the production, not because of the artists...

Yeah, but people dont know shit about westcoast artist like Sly boogy, roscoe and Ras Kass out side the westcoast area, cuz the media is all about eminem and 50 cent and rappers like that. My point is that i dont feel the fact that the 99% of the artists on the west refuse to let the genre evolve, i also feel that its something to do with the media to if you want a  artist to blow bigg... But thats just my opinion, so its all good...

It's easy to blame older artist or the "Industry" not supporting new artist... But the bottom line is rap has grown as a business and I Believe that we, the HipHop Community, have lost control... When The Chronic, Doggystyle,  Amerikkas Most, NWA, Ice T and them blew up back in the day, they were successful because WE bought the Albums!! Or the Homie bought it and you dubbed it.... That was the only way to hear it!!!  No internet, Kay Day went away and NO hardcore Hip Hop was ever on the radio... WE controlled success... Now Hip Hop success is defined by "radio play".. So don't get mad at Dre for tryin to change to keep up wit the game.. Ie.. 50 & Em... Everyones goal is to have that next "played once every hour song" So everything sounds the same, built for radio... If you want good musik, then stop bullshittin and start supporting our artist at the record store... If you download like me, then still buy that shit when it drop like me.. Stop complainin... We decide if The LIKS go Gold or copper.  We decide if Deathrow folds or not.  We hold Sly Boogy's future success in our hands... Buy that shit or be quiet and settle for the Snoop & Eastcoast Dre stuff we get, because they are two of the few from the west who playin the game like they need to in order to make loot... I would love to get a LIKS, Ras, Boogy, Stank, Pharoahe, Mos Def, 6 Deuce, Devin, De La, Mitchy or Quick album every month, but the company ain't gonna drop one every year like Ja & Jigga & Snoop because they want it to make money... Lets start buyin our artist shit more often and if we do make it so the companies make $ off the KAMS & Talib Kweli's of the world, then we will be much more happy... Or go listen to Hot 97, K104, Power 106 or go log in to Kazaa and stop blaming our artist when they just tryin to get paid... Holla

People need to start supporting the west or else the westcoast will give up.
When they get good money, they wanna come back with another album. If their sales are disappointing, they'll give up.

Don't get me wrong. I've been doing many topics about chicano rap lately. The chicanos are the future of the west coast. Don't get me wrong, but the new Daz album is the best I've heard from a black rapper for quite a while now. The eses are always coming with dope releases these days. Check these rappers...

Snapper
Mr. Capone-E
Mr. Criminal
Cuete
Youngster
Lil Demon
Slow Pain aka Lil Savage
Wicked Minds
Mr. Chino
Old Town Gangsters
Seven
Brownside
Old Town Mafia
Mr. Danger
Spanish Fly
Ese Rich Roc
Proper Dos
...
...

I could add tons of rappers now. Check them out. I promise that you don't get disappointed.
