What dre has done for others on the west
« on: June 29, 2003, 11:31:58 AM »
let me state this, I am not a hater.  I luv the chronic, and I luv dre's rapping and production style.  I haven't liked anything out of aftermath except dre 2001.

The Chronic- had snoop, daz, kurupt, nate dogg, doc, warren G, lady of rage, rbx.  The album was a complete sucess, due to the help of EVERYBODY.  The chronic would definately not be close to as good if all those inmates were not such a big part of it.  So, sure Dre puts all these rappers in the game, but how about throwin them a bone.

daz-has gotten 0 beats from dre for an album (he may have fucked this up himself, who knows)

kurupt-2 beats

nate- 1 beat

warren- 1 beat

we all know bout snoop.  So why don't dre throw these guys a beat?  I mean, he has got to have tons of leftovers.  Why not give bad azz, eastsidaz, soopafly, ewhite, mc ren, who ever on the westcoast.  Why doesn't he ever work wit them?

yeah yeah, I have heard dre is really busy.  Is he so busy that he can give busta rhymes some beats, or eve, or 50 cent, but not some of the people that helped him blow up?  I know dre doesn't OWE anyone anything, but this shit ain't about oweing, its about being friends.  Snoop dogg and tha dogg pound is a huge reason why dre is as successful as he is, why can't dre just give them a few beats each album.  Fuckin make time dre, if u got time to make a damn beat for busta rhymes (who didn't help u with both your very successful albums, didn't help make nuthin but a g thang a hit, didn't make many guest appearances on your albums), but no time for beats for dpg?  C'mon guys, anyone on here who has true friends knows that u always got time to help out your true friends.  Who knows maybe none of these guys ask dre for a beat, and dre just don't offer.  I don't know.  What do u guys think?

Yeah, I'm def feelin you man.

The thing is...yeah Dre is busy when it comes to makin beats for him dogs and not for Busta for one simple reason...Busta Rhymes pays. Nahmean? Either Dre is not gon charge Daz or Kurupt or Warren (or whoever) that much (or maybe even nuttn) or they dont want to pay full price for one of his beats. So Dre goes where the money is. And that's fucked up cuz, yeah I know he a business and it's about makin paper, but as u said, those are the people that helped u blow up. Without em Dre wouldnt prolly be whut he is rite now, so he gots to give dem some credit and return the favor.

Plus one thing I just thought about. I think The Chronic shouldnt be named under Dr. Dre. I mean, it shouldnt be Dr. Dre "The Chronic"...it should be Dogg Pound Gangstas "The Chronic" or whutever they wanted to call themselves cuz I think that it aint no strictly DrDre shit, it's a group thing. And people like Warren or Daz aint gettin no credit cuz people think of The Chronic they say "yeah, Dre and Snoop" and that aint the real shit.

Peace.

Yeah, it's true. I always wondered why MC's on the West don't get beats from Dre (or at least not many). But imo, he should help out other artists, I mean...not guys like Kurupt or Nate, but "up-and-coming" artists, if you know what I mean?
They can use the help & promotion...and a beat from Dre works well as far as promotion goes...everybody knows that.

Just what I said in another thread! (http://www.dubcnn.com/connect/index.php?board=7;action=display;threadid=36679;start=20)

I completely agree, I wish Dre could prioritize artist like DAz and Snoop who's been with him for a long time, and not Eve and 50 Cent. Everything is not about making money. Besides, he'd probably make a lot of money if him and Snoop teamed up together again.

yeah I def feel that.  I just don't see that happening tho, unless dre takes personal interest in the rapper, and then he would want to sign the rapper and have him write for dre and rap on guest appearances.  Think about, that is what dre does with everyone that likes on the westcoast.  Hitmann, king t, kurupt, daz, nate.  Who has dre given beats to on the west besides the ex inmates?  40 glocc got a couple, quik got a dre verse, the nwa fellas I'm sure got a beat or 2.  Mack 10 got 1.  damn that is all I can think of.  If dre is so damn busy wtf is he doing?  I mean Quik could get an album together much quicker than dre, and man they are right up there in quality.

Dre has a control problem, yall, on the REAL.  He wants to be the one dictating every single thing that goes on in that song.  The only reason he's worked with snoop so much is snoop lets him tell him what to do, how to rap, what to write about, etc. etc. etc.

A couple years ago, he turned down the chance to work with Michael Jackson becuase he heard that Mike was a control freak in the studio.

He's just like that, he'd rather work with people he's never worked with, becuase they'll be so star struck they'll let him tell them how it should be.  Daz, Kurupt, Nate, etc. most of them aren't going to let dre tell them what to do, they're supposed to be friends.

Dr.Dre aint got time for them anyway he would probably give them an unreleased beat from is early aftermath days ,plus it cost alot to have a Dr.Dre beat ,if u have a beat from Dre it would have to be a Hit single, also most of the west coast artist arent on a major label so ....

ever thought about that artists like snoop daz and so on dont want a beat from dr dre ? because if it is successful everybody will say "ahh a dre beat.."... so they want to have success on their own and not because of a dre beat... this is my opinion on this :)

It's true, West Coast music is NOT big in the commercial charts. Snoop doesn't really count anymore so why would Dre GIVE a beat to someone like Daz?

Also, people like Daz & Warren G can make beats that are as good as Dre's anyway!

Well said, Bigg C 8)
