When Sticky was looking for a solo deal it was stated that Aftermath signed him but that was just a rumor or they were just talking about it.

Dr. Dre doesn't have his own label it's Interscope just like Snoop doesn't have no say with Doggystyle it's all up to MCA.  Many people have deals like this, there are just like A&Rs with more responsibilities.

True, but they should also be held responsible for the signing/dropping of certain artists.  For example, I dont think MCA records would have gone out and signed E White, Soopafly or Latoiya Williams, or Someone like that to the label.  I dont know what the case was with Interscope, but I feel that since Dre brought Rakim to Aftermath, he should be responsible to make sure that Rakim completes an album and that it gets released on the Aftermath label whatever the case may be.  I dont understand this bullshit of signing artists and then "dropping" them from the label.  Thats BS IMO.  Now, lets just hope this is just a rumer in the long run so we dont all have to shit on Dre's head.

Was Aftermath not always with Interscope?

And if you think that Snoop Dogg has control over his "label" like a CEO of an independent label then you are wrong.

LOL...

You guys make me laugh.

Considering Dre and Eminem were the second richest/most well know celebriteis (rated by forbes) , and is constantly put in the top 5 most influential people in the rap industry, I'd say Dre is anything but a bad Businessman. If he thought Rakim wouldn't sell, then I'd say it was a good business move to not release his album.

i don't think i made my point very clear, sorry. what i was referring to was not dropping of Rakim because he wouldn't sell. i was pointing out that he seems to make the same mistakes with Ruthless Death Row & now Aftermath because he allows others to take control. if he was a great businessman Jimmy Iovine would have NO control over Aftermath at all, he would simply be the Middleman between Dre & the Consumer (you). He would have solidified a contract where he would have 100% control.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

IceCube is a big name in the movie/music industry ...but they won't let him do that political stuff !if he still want to do it

Cube said he wanted his next album to be more political but that was before there was talk about him signing to Aftermath. Now he just say it might gonna be his best record yet. ;D

Damn, I hope those Interscope guys don't want to put a record out full with club sounds like "War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)".
