Does perfection kill too much of the music?

I mean, Suge could have dropped Crooked I ages ago if he didnt want to burst out of the gates like The Chronic did in 92.

Dre/Iovine wouldnt have dropped Hittman, Rakim and just put out decent albums.

Kokane, E White, Soopafly surely have enough material for solo's, but Snoop seems to be holding off for more promo, where as putting these names in stores is better promo, and would build the Doggystyle hype

This concerns other labels aswell, but these 3 examples can be understood by practically all WCC posters...

Everyone wants to put out a classic album, but in the mean time, no music comes out from them, shits frustrating. Im not suggesting No Limit Records tactics of dropping album after album, but a reasonable balance is necessary...holla

Most of the music doesnt come out bcuz the artist is a plain lazy fucker... Like Soopafly, for ages I thought it's the industry that fucks him up, but Mr. Bad Azz told us in the interview that Soopa just doesnt sweat his job enough... There's a whole lotta people like that... Craig Mack after 1997, Kam between 1995- 2000, Mos Def after 1999, Method man as a solo artist aint made shit since 1998, U-God was silent for 3 years bcuz he felt the fans didnt want him at all, and all that... Also a lotta people quit, like Black Sheep, Fu-Schnickens, Tracey Lee, Rampage (he appears only with Busta), they're all dope rappers but they done wanna work...

Rap industry is a bitch, you either pay it 100% attention or get tricked.

lol... as I was scrolling through the top part of your post I was thinking of No Limit as the complete opposite of what you're talking about.

I agree with you, artists can spend too long tweaking every hook, every hi-hat, every rhyme, and then by the time their record drops the buzz is gone.

I'd actually prefer the Master P approach and just get the product on the shelves by whatever means necessary. For example, I'd rather have heard Rakim's album on Aftermath with maybe a couple of hooks to appease Jimmy than to have been left hanging like we are now with no sign of anything.

Artists don't strive for perfection enough.  Hittman and Crooked I are bad examples, the heads making the decisions on those albums aren't expecting an Illmatic there are just other factors involved in them not putting out an album.  

The Rakim album is not out because they are/were attempting to make a perfect album, but wouldn't you expect one?  I sure would.

People like Daz and Snoop should be looking to make the best album they can make I'd rather wait another 3 years for another album from them then get something like their last offering.

I'd rather get a 9.5/10 or a 10/10 album that I wait 3 years for instead of two 8/10 or 8.5/10 albums in that time.  I'm patient, I have a very nice collection of CDs to hold me off in the mean time.

and buy a record that is the shit to listen to, that you are
gonna listen to roughly 90% of it?
