OPEN BAR ENT. signs with Shady Records!
« on: August 13, 2003, 09:49:47 PM »
Xzibit 's fledgling Open Bar Entertainment imprint has inked a deal with Shady Records / Interscope.  And though X recently caught a bad one, he's not slowing down as he is finishing up two mixtapes, X-Man Vol.1 & 2 featuring freestyles, exclusives and a slew of new tracks. Look out for the DJ Muggs produced banger "Ride & Smoke."

More $ for Eminem (Em's like a .Master now)
Kinda a shame tho in a way.
Would have really wish'd 4 Xzibit's label to make it & sign on it's own as a sub-label... :-\.
(I guess talent can't gurantee nothin'...)
Does this mean no King Tee, Liks, Defari ect...
and more of the same... ???
Snoop Dogg
Dr Dre
50 cent
Obie Trice
D-12
ect.....Kinda like a step backwards.
As far as production goes....the deal is dope.
Dre and his minions.
BUt when it comes to the forced collab's that are gonna be made.... :P

Make ure' $ X

dope, can't wait for the mixtapes

and there won't be any forced collabos since there never been any.. Tha Liks and Defari were both on Restless which was executive produced by Dre and he will always have the collabo's he wants on Shady records too

good move for x. he'll finally get the spotlight he deserves, and the money behind him to promote, grab some top notch callabos. also he's said dre will exec produce all of his albums......this makes that 10x easier  legally.

oh yeah this puts presure on him and 50 to put out better material. i like both but lets face it they've been performing below their old standards.....nothing like friendly competition

Good and bad I guess.. Id rather hear the "At The Speed Of Life / 40 Dayz And 40 Nightz" version of Xzibit but that'll never happen now.  How many people went crazy when they heared Focus for the first time?  I know I did!  That song had me wanting more.. plus Chris The Glove was on production.

Since linking up with Dre.. everything sounds almost like they tryin to hard.  X lost that natural feel that he started with which represented his Lik Wit Affiliation PERFECTLY.  What about Birds Eye View, prod by Diamond D??  That shit was the knock too.

Xzibits tight.. but he's too Krispy Kreme'ish with all the Dre production now of days.

I don't see how if you sign to Shady Records you would HAVE to have D12, Obie, Dr. Dre, etc. on your album.  Were any of them on 50 Cent's album?  Was Ice Cube?  Brooklyn?  Rakim?  No

Dr. Dre excutive produced Restless and were Tha Liks, Defari, King Tee on the album?  Yes

And I don't see a point in it being Open Bar/Shady/Interscope, I mean to me that's just Open Bar/Interscope cause Shady is not really a record label.
