Jayo Felony - Underground
« on: August 21, 2003, 03:13:53 AM »

I just finished listening to the snippets on Amazon.com and it seems like the songs are tight! Only 10 songs though, but still, I'll probably gonna buy this.

I'm goin' to a Virgin Megastore on Monday and if they'll have this album, I'll cop it.
But it would be cool if some of you could give me a review of it, 'cause if they don't have it in the Virgin store, then I can still order if from Amazon.com

The reason I ask you guys to post a review is because the reviews at Amazon are worthless...just check this "review" (if that's what you call this) of Underground:

I like the beat of this music, or is it the harmony....I like the beat and the harmony....

^^^^Pretty damn good review ain't it!?  ;D
I would appreciate if some cats could describe the songs/album a bit...
Thanks anyway...

LOL i remember reading that review a while back. i've tried to find this CD but no luck  :(

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

I got Take A Ride & Watcha Gonna Do...and they ARE tight, some of my favorite albums actually.
I don't have Crip Hop, I read at Amazon.com that the majority of the beats on this album aren't good except for Hotta Than Fish Grease & True'd Up...is this true?

about half of the beats on the album are dope as hell but half of them are pretty weak........ i'd still pick it up its a good purchase

from my perspective, Crip Hop is a slept on cd, not many peeps into Jayo, some dope ass beats on there, battlecat does one and so does soopafly, good pick up

i have underground OG and its pretty dope, all produced by DJ Silk i believe, his beats are funky, good pick up also but short, like u said only 10 songs

IMO Crip Hop is a classic. It's basically craccin' from top to bottom. There are a few wacc ass beats, but most of the traccs are bangin'. A few of my faves are True'd Up, Hotta Than Fish Grease, Came Around, She Loves Me, and Gangbangin'.
