If we talk only the westcoast, then ill go for Tupac on that list....

Some of his lyrics is still having a message toady, and will probably be for a long time....
"I have loved you," says the LORD. "Yet you say, 'In what way have you loved us?' "Was not Esau Jacob's brother?" Says the LORD. "Yet Jacob I have loved" - Malachi 1:2

ras kass

i think putting 2pac on that list was a bad choice
ok, he wasnt wack, but the dude was about delivery and tellen people shit, not making briliant lyrics
we have ras kass for that

and ras kass and tash are my altime favorite mc's so yea

Right now the best lyricists are Ras Kass, Crooked I, Sly Boogy, Planet Asia, Roscoe, and Xzibit. Yukmouth has definitely elevated his shit as well. He deserves a honorable mention.

"Say what you like, just spell my name right, that's R-A-S-K-A-S-S"

Ras Kass of course from that list

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.
