why is that Xzibit...
« on: September 13, 2003, 10:31:13 PM »
why is that Xzibit has gotten weaker lyrically over time? I'm not hating, but you can't deny Xzibit aint as dope as he used to be. That's almost a fact. What is it? is he not as hungry, or did he just lose some of his skills? It seemed like over a 2 1/2 year span his skills went down drastically. Think of tracks like 3 Card Molly and What U See is What U Get, then think of some of his new stuff. Its not even close to as good.

What do u guys think???

He actually improved lyrically:
His flow & rhyme scheme has improved.

You probably mean that his subject matters have gotten worse.. and I gotta say I agree.

he writes his own lyrics so it isn't so strange he writes biographical lyrics. his life has changed, so he writes about different subjects. nothing wrong about that.

On guest appearances he often still comes as tight, thats why i don't get why he has got weaker when he has a whole song, is it because of Dre's influence and him trying to dumb down his lyrics for commercial reasons (doesn't he remember that he blew up and peeps loved him because he was spitting dope rhymes) or weather he's lost some of his hunger.
Charlie, lost his life right in front of the party...

This happens with all rappers: Snoop, X, Ras Kass, Ice Cube, etc...

Its cause Xzibit's flow isn't suited to the Dre style beats and therefore he has to sacrifice lyrically in order to sound in time with the beats. Sometimes you can hear him running out of breath like on "The Game Don't Wait Remix" cause he really cannot flow to the beats. That, plus the great change in subject matter that we have seen from him means that compared to his first two albums, most stuff since has been very average.

Lets just hope he gets back on form on his next album, and hooks up with the Likwit Crew again. I wanna hear X over Thayod and E-Swift again.
