I would jet if that hurricane is coming my way...they say its gonna be major.

Hurricane Isabel predicted to hit U.S.

Animated map shows Isabel's movement Sunday from 4:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. EDT. (Courtesy Accuweather)

(CNN) -- Hurricane Isabel dipped just below Category 5 status late Sunday morning, but the still powerful hurricane with top winds of 155 mph was forecast to hit the U.S. East Coast by the end of the week.

"We feel pretty confident that someone will (get hit)," said Eric Blake, a specialist at the National Hurricane Center told Reuters. "We're forecasting a major hurricane for the United States East Coast."

Hurricane center forecasters said they expected the storm to hit the U.S. East Coast by the end of the week, but added that air currents and condition could push it further north before landfall.

"Landfall along the U.S. Mid-Atlantic coast somewhere between North Carolina and New Jersey between four or five days is appearing more and more likely," the hurricane center said.

Isabel remained far from land at 11 a.m. EDT Sunday, 370 miles (595 km) east-northeast of the Turks and Caicos Islands, moving west-northwest at about 12 mph (19 km/h).

Before its dip Sunday, Isabel had twice reached the Category 5 threshold of 156 mph. Forecasters said the storm would likely experience a gradual weakening.

Category 5 is the highest rating for a hurricane.

Max Mayfield, hurricane center director, advised residents to take time to check their hurricane plans and know what to do should Isabel strike their community.

"If you've been lax with your hurricane preparations, now's a really good time to catch up," Blake told The Associated Press.

Southeastern retailers reported that residents were stocking up on supplies, according to the AP.

"They don't want to get caught with their pants down," said Steve Myers, co-manager of an 84 Lumber store in Georgetown, South Carolina. Despite higher plywood prices, Myers told the AP that prices are still "cheaper than a $300 window."

The last Category 5 hurricane to strike the United States was Andrew in 1992 and Camille -- which hit the Gulf Coast in 1969. Andrew -- which stands as the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history -- killed 43 people in Florida and Louisiana and caused $30 million in damage, according to the AP.

In 1998, Category 5 hurricane Mitch hit Central America, killed about 11,000 people, the AP reported.

Forecasters warned that large ocean swells and dangerous surf conditions were likely over parts of the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic over the next several days. Those surf conditions were also predicted to affect the southeastern U.S. coast over the next several days.

I'm not in danger.  Thanks for the offer, but how the fuck can a hurricane hurt you?  I never understood that.  They come through, blow shit down, I live, LOL.  In wilmington, I used to go out there every couple weeks with some friends, and the pier @ wrightsville beach kept getting destroyed, and they'd just build a new end where the pier stopped, so it cut back from like 200 ft, to 50 feet, over a period of 5 years.  Finally, they destroyed the whole pier and rebuilt a concrete one.

Dude.  It's WIND.  Don't worry about it.  Do what you usually do.  What do you do when it rains?  Think about it real hard, then do that.
