Oh no..............................for tha 5th or 6th time, we said the biggest hit by an artist thats NOT linked to Dre or Snoop. And they did play it in L.A. but BET was playin it more than we were, which is rare but good

I've heard E-40's Quarterbackin & Boo Yaa's 911 on the radio (East Coast BTW) tons lately. I'm sure it's because of the guests but these songs are being rotated frequently.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Best U can wasnt even close to a nationwide hit, as people in cali hated that shit cuz the neptunes produced a WACK track for it and it wasnt the typical liks party type song.  Terrible song, worst song on the alkaholiks most average album.  peace

Besides, the last major (remember, WE WERE talking major hit by the way!!!) hit by an artist from the westcoast artist npot named dre or snoop was Wheres the Love by BEP!!! Like it or not, that is the answer.

And guys, SUga Suga  and Trouble and Quarterbacking are all dope cuts, but were not really nationwide hits.  A hit is a song pretty well everyone knows across north america, something like In Da Club or Cali Love or (yechh!!) or Beautiful (when i saw my niece's grade 6 floor hockey team warming up to this i KNEW it was a hit).   There have been many great songs that did well, but nothing major recently except BEP>

"Suga Suga" is getting a lot of burn on the radio, but it's not a hit yet.

Pre-Dre and Snoop affiliation Xzibit had the last hit.

"What You See Is What You Get"

BET voted it best video of the year. And, this was with no Dre or Snoop name behind him. So, it counts.

Suga Suga by Baby Beesh, hum... Bash, is a hit in Minnesota. Every girl loves that song, and the CD I got in on repeat in college. The radio is playing it 24/7, so I know it's at least a hit in the west, since Minnesota is mainly west of the Mississippi. Also, Dilated Peoples if Worst Comes To Worst was big here, hum, Trouble was playing, not not too much. Oh, and here's the story on Baby Beesh, from Yahoo.

Emerging from the Bay Area in 1994, rapper Baby Beesh was part of Potna Deuce, whose album Welcome to da Tilt appeared briefly on Profile before disappearing. Beesh and the rest of the Potna Deuce crew would release 1996's Heron Soup independently before disbanding altogether. Beesh next formed Latino Velvet with N2Deep's Jay Tee, releasing The Golden State in 1996. The Rumble followed three years later, at which point Beesh parted ways with Latino Velvet and the Bay Area scene. He headed south to Houston, TX, where Dope House signed him as a solo artist. Savage Dreams, his 2001 debut for the label, was heavily influenced by the Dirty South, complete with gaudy cover art. But by 2002's On tha Cool, Beesh seemed to have mellowed in sound and attitude. The album's trippy stoner vibes intersected with Beesh's West Coast chest-thumping to suggest War's "Low Rider" performed by Tupac Shakur. On tha Cool was produced by Mario Ayala and Happy Perez and featured contributions from Dope House artists South Park Mexican and Russell Lee, as well as a Latino Velvet reunion on "They Don't Even Know."

"Suga Suga" is insanely big here in Vancouver.  The video is just starting to get played here, so I'm sure it will blow up soon.

I forgot about Black Eye Peas, oh, and Jurrasic 5, What's Goldyn played some. But Black Eye Peas after Where Is The Love gets mad play. But most people here only think of them for Where Is The Love, so they would hear their classic, Bridging the Gap.
