It could be awhile before the next Ice Cube album...
« on: September 29, 2003, 04:42:08 PM »
It's already been three years since Ice Cube released his last album. Still, the raptor is pushing back his long awaited Aftermath LP to further focus on his blooming film career. Cube is currently shooting the sequel to last year's highly successful "Barbershop" as well as making a cameo in Queen Latifah's Beauty Shop, a spin off of Cube's flick. Next up, Mr. Jackson will star in "Are We There Yet," a flick set to be directed by "Snow Dogs" director Brian Levant.

Damn, I was hoping this would come out within the next year or so, but it looks like it's gonna be a bit longer...  :P

Seems like Cube ain't really into the rapping thing anymore. Maybe he doesn't wanna sign to Aftermath, considering his album probably wouldn't come out if he did.

Cube doesn't need to make another album. Another one will further tarnish his legacy after that terrible Peace album.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

The signs all point to this project not happening.  Maybe it's best since people will be looking for the old Ice Cube and the reality is that Cube mentally is in another place.  The fact that Cube does not have time (probably Dre either) shows that he has moved on to bigger things...Who can blame him for that.

I listened to the peace album today, and even though at the time we all said it was a dissapointment, it blows everything on the radio today out of the water.

I disagree. Some songs were good but overall it had weak rhymes & beats.
