Wanna hear my theory on Palpatine? It is unlikely, but interesting.

He was good at the start, but they conned him into being cloned a couple times in case he died, or maybe they cloned him cause he died of some disease. As, in the Thrawn Trilogy, the Spaarti cylinders (the cloning vats) cannot make sane clones without a force blanket, provided by ysalamiri or the like, the clone went mad. Due to the ravages of the increasing dark side usage of the insane clone (see Joruus C'Baoth), he had to clone himself again and again, until the creature remaining was pure evil.

Or maybe Sidious is the Chancellor's twin brother.

My theory on Dooku: Good guy originally, but fell under Sidious' spell. Chris Lee's acting, and the original Dooku outline, both point to another sad seduction.
