whatchu think of this idea for an album...

the concept of the album is like telling a story or a biography and each song is like a chapter.  the entire album would be one story.  Or an artist telling their biography.  starting from when they were young up until now.  Yeah I know hella rappers say their album is just about their life.  For instance Daz Life I lead album.  give me a break daz, that ain't the life you lead.  So someone who listens to the entire album really feels like they just watched a movie or read a book.  but it would be done with raps, and be hella creative.  and other guest could come on for like dialoge parts.  Has anyone ever made an album like that?  what do you guys think of the idea?  I think a biography album wouldn't be too hard, but a entire album about one story would be really hard to do, and to keep the attention for the entire album.

imagine tho, stories similar to  movies like Pulp fiction, goodfellas, scarface, snatch, lock stock and 2 smoking barrels, ect. put into rap form throughout a whole album.

i like the idea too but 90% of the rappers out there havent lived the shit they talk about already...if it were true stories and they were good at story telling it would be a damn good album...maybe even a classic...could definetely bring something new to hip hop...

Prince Paul made A Prince Among Theives and the whole album was a story of an MC about to get a record deal but needed money to finish a demo so his best friend hooked him up in his organization to hustle for some cash but he ended up turning on him.  (a very breif summary)
Prince Paul had all different rappers playing characters (Xzibit, Big Daddy Kane, De La Soul, plus more).

And Nas was going to make I Am a double LP and tell a story from his birth to death (and afterlife).  It was to start off with "Fetus" and end with "Undying Love" and "Amongst Kings".  But the bootlegging of the album made him scrap the idea and just release a single CD and Nastradamus later that year.

That would be something for good story-tellers, Nas for example. He would be very good at this.

Me too, but I like "Like Today" bit more, it made me laugh when he told the whole story (with funny lines like "It appears as if a piece of me has got motivation/ Ain't nothing wrong with a little morning masturbation") and at the end you recognize, that it's all a dream, then he starts tellin' the beginning of the story one more time and then there's the hook "In tomorrow I see no promise and yesterday was like today." It's tight! I also like "Hair" very much, also good storytellin'!

I would love to hear a real story about his life, after he recorded "Nothing But Sunshine" and spreaded rumours, although he didn't want to:

Now when my mother died I had to take it in stride/
There ain't no room for pride in watchin' your father cry/
And dad made it until maybe a year later/
When they found his suicide inside of a grain elevator.

yeah, he said he changed that and since God Loves Ugly he's mainly talking about himself and not out of other character's points of view
