If u could pick 5 west coast artists/groups to blow up in 2004

Bein at least a lil bit realistic, if u could pick five artists/groups to blow up from the west, that you think actually could make an impact on the entire country, who would you pick? This doesn't neccesarily mean the five rappers on the west u think are the best, but the ones who you think could blow up commercially if promoted right.

1. Bad Azz - The only drawback he has to me is his name. He's the most realistic and straight foward rapper from the DPG clique, and I think he has the best lyrics, 1st or 2nd best delivery, 2nd best voice, best style, from their clique. If he did two mixtapes, one to east coast tracks, and one over down south tracks, I think people on the east and down south would looove his shit and buy it.

2. Crooked I - Well...his style may be a lil bit too complex to blow him up to the commercial audience, but with no dickridin, I think he probably is one of the best lyricists the west has right now, and his multis and battle raps are tooooo dope.

3. The Game - I'll admit I am tired of his style of rappers, always usin different techniques to tell you how he'll shoot you, what he'll use to shoot you, how gangsta he is, etc. etc. etc. but he is one of the best at it on the west. Since this seems to be what people love nowadays, I think that with the right promotion he would blow up.

4. Suga Free - The only people who don't like him seem not to like anything that doesn't use hella multis and complex lyrics. He has the best punchlines that I've ever heard from a rapper who raps on pimp shit. And also, rappers on the east and down south are talkin this pimp shit but don't kno anything about it. Not only is Suga a real pimp, but he spits real pimp lyrics that entertain anybody.

5. Ras Kass - Well, he's in jail which is already a bad thing, and before he went, all of his fans wanted him to blow up next but not enough people knew about him...so hopefully he'll build up some kinda hype in jail, and hopefully he'll stay at it writin in jail. If Dead Prez has as many fans as they do, Ras could have the same fanbase.

I say Sly Boogy...he's gonna do it big in 04. With a Major label like J Records backing him, its lookin good. I hope they show some love and promote his shit. People might say he's too raw for the mainstream but I think he has the potential to blow up, 50% of the songs on Judgement Day was single material. Its been a while Hip Hop has seen such a talented MC

Baby Muggs production wise, real good lyrics. Socially concious.

Strong Arm Steady

Though I don't like how they're being "gangsta" they deserve their shine. Chace, Kron, Phil Da Ag and Planet As, they all been down so many years. I just wish they'd spit their usual way, and not all gangsta, even if Mitchy is down with them.

in no particular order:

1. Crooked I... needs to drop this year or he'll just fade away

2. Bad Azz... Actually an excellent lyricist even tho he gets classified as just gangsta. Has some real shit to say too, people should listen

3. Chico & Coolwadda... Hella underrated. They got the gangsta and backpacker style all in one group. Shame they never really got a big buzz while they were on MCA. They really represent everything thats west coast hip hop for me.

4. Short Khop... I dont think anyone else likes him, but i think his style is tight. Needs to rap about better things than how good he is but he's got potential

5. Suga Free... Funniest rapper out. The whole rap game are tryna be pimps. May as well let a real one get some credit. Plus, Free can rap too, and he has the best producer behind him


Oh yea, I agree Ras Kass should blow up but he's way too intelligent for modern day rap fans. he's got his core fan base but I don't see him being huge. unfortunately.
