The Early Doggystyle Music Is Not Classic, But It Is....
« on: November 30, 2003, 06:02:48 PM »
it is timeless however....

today I decided to pop in an old cd... the bones soundtrack... while this isn't a cd that I could listen to for a long period of time, its a good listen from time to time... this is something that Doggystyle Records had in its early years. Whether it was Tha Eastsidaz, Doggys Angels or other various compilations (wash soundtrack, training day soundtrack) ... it was music that I enjoyed and still enjoy... in fact during that time 1999-2001 was the birth of the west... in 2001 we had some great songs, my favorite being Dre and Quiks "put it on me" ... the beat, the hook, the song, its all great... then you have a couple dre and snoop songs that definetly will be great listens in the future. However, what about Kokanes "Raise Up" ... I totally forgot about that song... and today I played it about 20 times... lol....real catchy...now the west is anything but poppin... there may be underground music going around, but nothing that is really going to keep ME listening... but im so excited for Westside Connection... finally something worth buying thats not coming from any other coast...then 213 which will be another must buy... what keeps the old westcoast music timeless is the fact that they are BRINGIN THEIR OWN SOUND...now everyone on the west is trying to sound like everyone who is bringing "hot" music....

songs like "dogg named snoop" , "raise up" , "death of snow white" , "fuck with us" and so on just keep me hoping that once again the music will come back, but in the mean time its timeless music that is definetly worth a listen from time to time

I feel exactly what u are sayin.

I am always bumpin that 99-2002 shit, I jus finished bumpin Knoc'Turnal. The sound that these songs had hasn't exactly faded away yet, so it still sounds modern. But the Doggystyle Music, along with some of the DPG affiliate and Dre music, is still as tite now as it was when it came out.

Agree with everything said. Oh and I actually think Bones soundtrack is dope. There aren't many cd's where you get Snoop,RBX,Ren,Kokane,Lost Angels,CPO,Latoiya Williams,Kurupt,Roscoe,Tha Eastsidaz,Bad Azz,Doggy's Angels,Xzibit,Soopafly,Butch Cassidy,Nate,Outkast,Sleepy Brown,Cypress Hill,Fredwreck,Warren G,Battlecat and whoever else i forgot each doing at least one verse, hook or beat.

Doggystyle Records' releases until 2002 usually had this cast:
Snoop
Eastsidaz
Kokane
Suga Free (not on Bones)
Bad Azz
Kurupt
Butch Cassidy
Nate
Soopafly
Doggy's Angels (not on Snoop Dogg presents:Tha Eastsidaz)
Latoiya Williams
RBX (only since 2001)
with CPO and Xzibit thrown in on 'Bones' and 'Snoop Dogg presents:Tha Eastsidaz' and Lost Angels on 'Dueces & Trays' and 'Bones'

That was a great line-up IMO

on Doggystyle Allstars and 'Paid da cost..' the line-up wasn't bad,but a lot weaker:
Snoop
E-White
Soopafly
RBX
Kokane
Latoiya
Nate
(Daz and Goldie weren't on both of them)

If the Welcome 2 Chuuch mixtapes are any indication,Doggystyle's upcoming projects might have a REAL dope cast again:
Snoop
Daz
RBX
Soopafly
E-White
Latoiya
Bad Azz
Nate
Warren
Goldie
1/2 Dead
Crystal
Twinz
Daddy V
Doggy's Angels
Pinky

If Snoop could come with such a guest list on 'Snoopafella',there's a fat chance it might be way better then 'Paid da cost...' I certainly hope it will be.(together with everyone else here I guess)

I said that Daz and Goldie weren't on both Paid da cost and doggystyle allstars. Goldie wasn't on the allstars,Daz wasn't on Paid da cost.
