Thoughts on Crooked I and what direction he needs to take. . .
« on: December 06, 2003, 04:18:47 AM »
I am interested in hearing what you're serious thoughts are on Crooked I? and what direction he must take. I see Suge saying "The best in the west", yet he puts out a mixtape that never leaves an Mp3/Internet status. Mixtapes/bootlegs from artists with Street credits are all over the streets.

To me, he needs to break away from Death Row aka Tha Row and connect with Loud Records, that way you may hear Crooked I with Xzibit, Terror Sqaud, Mobb Deep instead of the usual nonsence of unheard niggas with no credits.

If Suge put him out, he may create a small buzz and sell some units. But the truth is Death Row hasnt managed to put out a hit record in almost 10 years. They have attempted on numerous occasions with Crooked I Mixtapes, Soundtracks and the shit is nonsence that doesnt hit the streets. That label is far from reaching its once-powerhouse status with Dr Dre, Snoop, Tupac and the old Dogg Pound.

I think crook got skill and with suge he is in jail !!! he should be free to release an album....the problem is that death row signs artists and never drops albums....they should have so much unreleased material...

Loud Records lol... Loud was a hiphop powerhouse, they had the Wu, Mobb Deep, Big Pun & Terror Squad, Xzibit, and alot more artists... Loud was one of the hottest labels, i was shocked when they folded... I think Crooked I would fit in best wit IV Life Records...

I dont see other westcoast labels that make unknown rappers famous.
and why should he leave the row??? to go independent and release a mixtape???
I think he released one this year and will release another one next year.
anyways i hope Suge puts out the Kurupt record early next year  and the crooked i record not too long after that.
But you never know...too much money involved..he still has that Left Eye Record and his book with a compilation cd that he could relese before crooked i.....

It's no way in hell he should still be with Tha Row. If they haven't released him yet, as long as he's been with em, he should leave. Plus, everything he's done with them has been worst than his previous shit. I donno who he should sign with, but ANYBODY but Tha Row, because they are through with.

^IV LIFE RECORDS!!! IMAGINE TOO COOL AND CROOKED I COLLABIN'... Lots of rappers already expressed interest in workin' wit IV Life... i think it seems like the best place for Crooked I. No other labels are doin' it like IV Life. Death Row always been my favorite record label but it's gettin' ridiculis wit them. They haven't dropped a solo from a current artist since Michel'le... They always make it sound like they're back and there gonna drop all these hot albums but then they drop another pac album or shitty soundtrack... Seriously if Crooked I doesn't drop in 2004 then fuck tha row...

Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in

What did iv life drop this year?
Look how long they are taking to release a official album
so in no way he should sign with them
Just do some tracks with them, maybe having DJ Slip produce one or 2 tracks but not sign
I think death row is the best place:now they got good producers and he can hook up with a lot of westcoast artists:too short, esastwood, spider,YA,boo yaa tribe,Kurupt,sly...and having hooks by DB,kc and jojo...(and I read a while on dubcnn that he already recorded some tracks with jayo felony)

This year they've dropped 2 free mixtapes, which was quality music if you'd ask me. When they rap over "already existing" beats, they just don't leave it at that. They change the beat a little, the bass harder, etc...they put in work.

Yeah, they still haven't released Vol. 2 Tha New Breed. The reason is that they are still looking for the right distributor 'cause this will be their first big release and they want the best out of the deal.

Now, back to the subject...
Like many others, I think he should leave Tha Row and find himself a good label 'cause he certainly has the talent to become an established artist in the game.

And yeah, Nima posted a few months ago that Crooked I & Jayo hooked up for a couple of songs, but that was a while ago...thanks for bringing that up. I'll holla at Nima if he has more news about that collabo.
