warren g "i want it all" appreciation thread
« on: January 06, 2004, 01:49:06 AM »
its been a while since ive listened to this album but today is the day and its gotta be said, this album is bangin from front to back, almost every track is great. production is top notch and i'd go as far as saying that its my favorite warren g album. of course warren is not the best mc out there, but the production and the guest appearences more than compensate it, he's got a nice line up of guests like slick rick, kurupt, daz, rbx, nate dogg, snoop dogg, mack 10, jd, lady v, eve, el debarge and others.

the best tracks are probably "dope beat" and the first song "gangsta love. the  beat is so laid back and they drop some nice verses but nates steals the show with his amazing hook. "You Never Know" w/ snoop is another outstanding track with laid back ryhmes and good content. "i want it all" w/ mack 10 is laced by so many different instruments its crazy, you have keyboards, guitar, trumpet, and saxophone, this song is amazing, so is the original version of "game dont wait". only weak track is the ruff ryders song. but overall amazing, "i want it all" is yet another classic album imo, combining gangsta rap with positivity.

show your appreciation!

Agree 100%. Props. It's a great album. Maybe even one of the last great true G-funk albums?...

Best joint for me... 'Worldwide Riders': "Ride with Nine Inch Nails blastin' out shit, I'm on some ol' rock-and-roll/hip-hop shit."

I think this & ROTR are his two best albums. There's only one song I don't care for on "I Want It All", the rest are incredible. Easily one of the best west coast albums I've ever heard.

Fuck yeah! This album is amazin. Sure Warren aint the best MC out there, but he dont pretend to be. He is laid back, and always on point; he flows nicely for the beats he lays.

This album is great, top notch production, great guest appearances. Gangsta Love is tha joint, plus Why oh why is great too.  I want it all...it's all said, one of the best songs I've heard over the "I like it" melody (and I've heard quite a lot now...everybody seems to sample it). Who woulda though a track with JD could be that dope? Well, Havin Things is. My Momma and Dope Beat make me wish he had more solo joints, they're both amazin. We all know Game dont wait. The remix was bangin, but the original is better in almost everything. Except for a couple of tracks that I aint feeling that much, the album is near perfection. That's a solid 9/10 and a westcoast classic hands down.

I definatly love this album, IMO Warren's second best release.  Gangsta Love, Dope Beat, Havin Thangs, Game Donr Wait OG & You Never Know are all classic cuts...Thers alota dope songs on that album for sure.

It's a very feel-good album and I like it until track 13. I do think many of the beats are somewhat weak and that he has way too many outside guests...I mean: Ruff Ryders? Crucial Conflict? Jermaine Dupri? It's a dope album but I'd take "Return of the Regulator" over it any time...though that one doesn't have such great songs as "Gangsta Love","You never know", "I want it all", "Game don't wait","Ola Mae","Dope Beat" and "Havin' Things"
Z knows about ALL your inner conflicts..

Suga T is 40's sister

and about "I want it All" how come nobody mentioned "If we Give You a Chance" with Slick Rick That song is soo tight and in my opinion this the best  Warren G album its so versatile and all the songs are Bangers...my fav are : Gansta Love, Worldwide Riders, Ola Mae (dope Soopafly beat) , Dope Beat & I want it all

True that should've been on a different album.

If you mean which song, I was talking about "We Got That". They should've replaced that track with the "Game Don't Wait" remix.
