I'm from Australia, so i hear quite a bit off it. Personally i don't think much of it, kinda 2nd rate compared to the US.

However, Oz hip hop is really starting to take off at the moment and i do feel that right now it's in a better state than what the US hip hop scene is in. This is coming from the sense that there is no "bling bling" rappers as such, Oz hip hop is growing a larger fan base atm, however keeping a low profile as the music being made is not trying to get over commercialised. The videos are simple, low budget, and straight to the point given by the lyrics...pretty much the way it should be. The lyrics feel real, where as for me i'll hear a new track from the US and sit back and think "hmm...is this true or is he just saying that to sell records". Also too, it's very supportive environment as the artists are trying to help Oz hip hop take off, that there are no large scale beefs between rappers.

It's growing on me tho, give it another year of development as such and i'll probably be more into it.

As for the Hilltop Hoods, not really into them, they got a few nice tracks, i.e. 1979. New album sounds nice tho, i really like 'The Nosebleed Section', tight beat and samples.
