Cube ain't a tight actor at all
« on: January 15, 2004, 05:42:47 PM »
Anyone else think Cube is overrated as an actor? I'm always hearing of how he revolutinized being both a rapper and an actor, but he hasn't done a good performance since "Boyz N Da Hood". He was great as Dough Boy but that's it. The "Friday" series is classic, but really his performances are average at best. Both Chris Tucker and Mike Epps greatly outshine his ass. And Anaconda? He didn't even do a good job as a supporting actor. And that movie with Elizabeth Hurley, as fine as she is, was whack as fuck. If you wanna talk about someone who did the damn thing as both an actor and rapper you needa only look at Pac.

I disagree. Ice Cube is one of my favorite actors. I've enjoyed all of his movies. My opinion might be a little bias, though, since I'm a huge Cube fan. ;D

Seen better & Worse homie..
Cube does his thang tho.  ;)
+ they hire him to bring the asses into the theater's..
it seem's to be a winning formula.

Check the resume..= $Cha-Ching
The day his movies stop generating
then it'll all be over.
by then...
Cube will be livin' forever off them hollywood buck's.

Ice Cube plays himself in every movie.

Ice Cube played Ice Cube in the jungle.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube the gangbanger.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube the dope dealer.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube the bounty hunter.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube in Mars.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube the barbershop owner.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube the college student.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube in the middle east.
Ice Cube played Ice Cube in South Africa.

He's entertaining but calling him a good actor is a stretch. Pac and Will Smith got that category owned.

Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.

Haha, I forgot about "Ghost of Mars". Whack. And I didn't mention "It's All About the Benjamins" or "Barbershop" cuz he did a pretty good job in those IMO. Oh yeah, and Torque looks pretty gay from what I seen.

Ice Cube is very smart in accepting his roles. He plays the same character at all times, just kind of like different versions of Craig off Friday, and altered in different ways to fit the moive. It's all good though, he does his thing, and you said you left out good movies, which also happen to be the more resent movies. People grow, and his acting skillz grow with him. It's not fair to judge old movie, when the new ones are shitting on them. Also, he writes or helps write most movies his in. In puts in mad work, so why the hate. He writes some damn good movies, Friday series, Barbershop, ya' know.

I think he is alright...he has done some good movies with some good roles...

..on the other hand he has been in some duff roles...but even the "best" sometime choose unwisely...and by the best i am referring to the likes of Pachino, Washington and Nick Cage lol they've done a couple real donkeys in their time...not everyone can act...so i would say in comparison to the average bored music star that tries to be an actor he is pretty good...but the best ? hell naw (as much as i am a fan of cube)

btw i also loved pac as an artist and as an actor before all the hype started... he isnt an amazing actor..good? - yes, heartfelt? - yes...better than cube? - so far yes but cube has more time to shine

Nicholas Cage is the king of playing the same character in every movie.
